“Izzy does it” nitpicking
Idk how to start it, let me just dive in without any introduction.
1. I’d really like to know why Zipp is leaving voice notes anytime she have a screentime. It would be nice comedy effect for some if it was once or twice, but it’s happening all of the time and gets irritating pretty quickly.
2. I know it’s for investigation purposes but this scene looks kinda gay

4. Pipp songs are boring and a bit souless. Too bad those are the only ones we get so far. I understand that some people might like it but for me those are just generic pop songs.
Also, Pipp is said to be this huge pop star, but the only times we see her pipp squeaks there is just a bunch of young fillies.

As someone who catch themselves having many times similar mindset I can tell you one thing Izzy - Don’t. Think. Like. That. It’s toxic behaviour making even bigger burn out and creative block than before. 
What sits bad with me is that this behaviour doesn’t seem to be corrected or even talked about and instead changed into “Oh, sometimes you just need to look for inspiration somewhere else :^D”

16. Ok, this last thing will be on a serious note - as before I was fun-hating Pipp within my friend group because it looked like writers wanted to make relatable influencer figure now I truly hate her with burning passion and here is why:
A) She is posting her friends image and shows off all of the things they are doing without their consent and without asking them for details.

Izzy told you clearly that it is made as a birthday present, so why are you making it into a brand and say that everyone can get it!? Why haven’t you thought that maybe a thing done specialy for someone will be one and only? You live with Izzy in the same house and know that she’s crafting things the way she feels like crafting and probably wouldn’t like to make something because she has to. You never even asked her is it alright to say that she can make more of this. You never even asked Sunny if she is okay to be filmed and asked questions during her job but you still did it and showed her having troubles to the whole pony world!

B) Pipp is being way too much self-absorbed

As normally I’m advocating for having a bit of ego, here it’s pretty badly portayed to say at least.
You solved one problem so far and didn’t saw any results of it. Actually later you realized how bad your advice was, but before that it was so noble to the point where you had to say it out loud (???). Yes I’m over-analyzing but this monolouge took me off guard and twisted my guts when I first heard it.
Also her mannerism looks like coming from someone who doesn’t see a world outside herself. It’s probably just a biased thoughts and I wish it could change, but also kinda want to know if anyone else caught similar impression.
C) From where exactly does she know what will her hit song be? Isn’t it dependent from the audience?

Hello! I hope you're doing well. The purpose of this short "composition" is to closely analyze some of the key H/Hr moments in the books (I haven't watched all the movies, so you won't find anything about the films here).
And I know it should be obvious, but I seriously don't mind the R/Hr or H/G ship. It's none of my business. So please refrain from taking anything out of context/misappropriate the things I say. I mean absolutely no offence to any Canon pairings.
Even if you don't ship them, I'm sure you can't deny that both Harry and Hermione have an incredibly close platonic relationship together. I've heard people narrate some of the "finest" H/Hr moments while explaining why they're fit to be soulmates. There's a high probability that you'd come across them when talking to a H/Hr shipper. However, there are a few scenes in the books (which, in retrospect, are really 'sweet') I haven't heard others talk about often.
In this essay, I'd like to share some of the best scenes in the Potter books, immediately followed by an underrated moment.
Let's dig in.
Best moment:
The hug in Philosopher's/Sorceror's Stone.
Ah, isn't it obvious? This is certainly one of the finest moments that kickstarts the strong dynamic between Harry and Hermione. I really like this scene. It's powerful on a number of levels.
Romione shippers tend to provide a parallel to exemplify the attraction between the remaining members of the Golden Trio (Hermione apologizing about Scabbers and sobbing onto Ron's shoulders). But in my eyes, there's certainly something different about her hugging Harry.
Firstly, we've got to consider the context. When Hermione embraced Ron, it happened on the second page of a different chapter. On the contrary, anything that occurs at the end of any chapter/book sticks in our minds for a long time.
I'm going off on a tangent here, just to make sure you get the point. This trope (though I'm not sure I can it that) happens a lot of times in the Harry Potter books.
A breeze ruffled the neat hedges of Privet Drive, which lay silent and tidy under the inky sky, the very last place you would expect astonishing things to happen. Harry Potter rolled over inside his blankets without waking up. One small hand closed on the letter beside him and he slept on, not knowing he was special, not knowing he was famous, not knowing he would be woken in a few hours' time by Mrs. Dursley's scream as she opened the front door to put out the milk bottles, nor that he would spend the next few weeks being prodded and pinched by his cousin Dudley... He couldn't know that at this very moment, people meeting in secret all over the country were holding up their glasses and saying in hushed voices: "To Harry Potter -- the boy who lived!"
This scene hits home for a lot of reasons.
Look, most of us can't help feeling sorry for Harry here. His parents are dead, which (as McGonagall claimed) is a horrible thing to have happened. We've also seen at the beginning of the book that the Dursleys hate the Potters.
It's distressing to realize that a one-year-old is about to be raised by a family who doesn't like him at all.
And the fact that the entire wizarding world is celebrating Volde... sorry, You-Know-Who's downfall, while the boy sleeps on innocently (without any knowledge of what's just happened), is even more saddening. No, he simply couldn't know what'd happened to his life, that witches and wizards all over the country are toasting him.
It's bittersweet.
Moving on:
Deciding that he'd worry about the Hogsmeade form when he woke up, Harry got back into bed and reached up to cross off another day on the chart he'd made for himself, counting down the days left until his return to Hogwarts. Then he took off his glasses and lay down; eyes open, facing his three birthday cards.
Extremely unusual though he was, at that moment Harry Potter felt just like everyone else -- glad, for the first time in his life, that it was his birthday.
This is, yet again, another 'Aww' moment at the end of a chapter. How can you not feel sorry for Harry? Most thirteen-year-olds have already enjoyed a lot of birthdays in the past. But for him, it's something new.
He's glad that it's his birthday for the first time. If I didn't know better, JKR wants us to sympathize with Harry.
And here's a final example:
Harry spun around to see Hermione pointing her wand at Ron, her expression wild: the little flock of birds was speeding like a hail of fat golden bullets toward Ron, who yelped and covered his face with his hands, but the birds attacked, pecking and clawing at every bit of flesh they could reach.
"Gerremoffme!" he yelled, but with one last look of vindictive fury, Hermione wrenched open the door and disappeared through it. Harry thought he heard a sob before it slammed.
I do feel for Ron, getting attacked by a flock of birds was certainly uncalled for. But don't you get the point? The "sob" momentarily diverts our attention towards Hermione.
"Poor Ron, that must have hurt... oh, dear, Hermione's crying."
I think you know what I'm talking about. It's the same thing that happened when Hermione embraced Harry and called him a "Great wizard."
Yes, the H/Hr hug doesn't occur at the last line or anything, but it's certainly just a page before the chapter ends.
"But Harry -- what if You-Know-Who's with him?"
"Well -- I was lucky once, wasn't I?" said Harry, pointing at his scar. "I might get lucky again."
Hermione's lip trembled, and she suddenly dashed at Harry and threw her arms around him.
"Hermione!"
"Harry -- you're a great wizard, you know."
"I'm not as good as you," said Harry, very embarrassed, as she let go of him. "Me!" said Hermione. "Books! And cleverness! There are more important things -- friendship and bravery and -- oh Harry -- be careful!"
That's one reason why it's meaningful!
Also, note that Harry's just about to face the 'Big Bad' (at a moment when 'Danger lies ahead of them and safety lies behind'). No one's noticed them hugging, too.
And it wasn't in front of the Portrait Hall or anything, either.
It was deep beneath the ramifications of the castle. It was (probably) around midnight, too.
The situation (arguably, the fate of the wizarding world rests on Harry's shoulders now).
The dialogue ("You're a great wizard, you know" instead of "I'm so sorry about Scabbers")
The atmosphere (It was late at night).
The fact that they were just kids.
All of these make the hug so powerful.
Oh, and it was the first book in the series. 2- Underrated moment:
Harry (and yes, Ron too) saving Hermione from the troll.
What's interesting here is:
1- Harry was the one who immediately thought of Hermione after Dumbledore ordered the Prefects to take everyone to their dormitories (Not Ron).
2- Harry isn't smug about having just saved a stranger's life.
A stranger, moreover, who was considered "interfering".
On the other hand, Ron is a little git.
They passed different groups of people hurrying in different directions. As they jostled their way through a crowd of confused Hufflepuffs, Harry suddenly grabbed Ron's arm.
"I've just thought -- Hermione."
"What about her?"
"She doesn't know about the troll."
Ron bit his lip.
"Oh, all right," he snapped. "But Percy'd better not see us."
It's pretty obvious that, if given the choice, Ron would rather not go after the girl he'd teased in class.
Harry then did something that was both very brave and very stupid: He took a great running jump and managed to fasten his arms around the troll's neck from behind. The troll couldn't feel Harry hanging there, but even a troll will notice if you stick a long bit of wood up its nose, and Harry's wand had still been in his hand when he'd jumped - it had gone straight up one of the troll's nostrils.
Harry's saving both of their lives here (while endangering his own).
Remember that he's only eleven.
"We should have gotten more than ten points," Ron grumbled.
"Five, you mean, once she's taken off Hermione's."
"Good of her to get us out of trouble like that," Ron admitted. "Mind you, we did save her."
"She might not have needed saving if we hadn't locked the thing in with her," Harry reminded him.
Ron thinks they were doing Hermione a favour. Harry, however, is a tad more level-headed. And sensible.
Also, it's somewhat of a stretch, but I believe it proves the point that Harry's true nature is like his mother's (James Potter had boasted around after he saved Snape's life).
Yes, I know it's such a cliche, but Harry is pure at heart.
3-Best moment:
The "mythical" Hippogriff ride:
Now, I've personally never thought much of it. It's a good chapter, yes, but bringing animals into a Shipping war is just... meh.
It's the trust that Harry had in Hermione (when she pulled out the Time turner) that interests me.
Anyhow, it's a pretty common argument posed by H/Hr fans.
Quoting from Wikipedia:
In some traditions, the hippogriff is said to be the symbol of love, as its parents, the mare and griffin, are natural enemies. In other traditions, the hippogriff represents Christ's dual nature as both human and divine.
It occurred in the wee hours of the morning, so I suppose it does have a slightly "mythological" (I can't think of a better word) feel to it.
Again, I'm not sure I can call it my favourite part of the book, especially as Hermione wasn't enjoying riding on Buckbeak.
Underrated moment:
Having fun talking about Filch and Madam Pince.
Enjoying the fact that they could speak normally again, they made their way along the deserted lamp-lit corridors back to the common room, arguing whether or not Filch and Madam Pince were secretly in love with each other.
For Romione shippers who believe that Harry and Hermione are "boring" together, it's a rude awakening.
No, the "arguing" doesn't mean they were actually in a disagreement. It's clear that both of them were having fun.
Enjoying their time, in fact.
It's one of the few 'Harmony' scenes in Half-blood Prince.
I do not believe that either of them was consciously aware of their feelings towards each other, either.
And if it's just a coincidence that they were enjoying talking about being in love, it's certainly a bizarre one.
4-Best moment:
Visiting Godric's Hollow together
"'The last enemy that shall be defeated is death'..." A horrible thought came to him, and with a kind of panic. "Isn't that a Death Eater idea? Why is that there?"
"It doesn't mean defeating death in the way the Death Eaters mean it, Harry," said Hermione, her voice gentle. "It means... you know... living beyond death. Living after death."
But they were not living, thought Harry. They were gone. The empty words could not disguise the fact that his parents' moldering remains lay beneath snow and stone, indifferent, unknowing. And tears came before he could stop them, boiling hot then instantly freezing on his face, and what was the point in wiping them off or pretending? He let them fall, his lips pressed hard together, looking down at the thick snow hiding from his eyes the place where the last of Lily and James lay, bones now, surely, or dust, not knowing or caring that their living son stood so near, his heart still beating, alive because of their sacrifice and close to wishing, at this moment, that he was sleeping under the snow with them.
Hermione had taken his hand again and was gripping it tightly. He could not look at her, but returned the pressure, now taking deep, sharp gulps of the night air, trying to steady himself, trying to regain control. He should have brought something o give them, and he had not thought of it, and every plant in the graveyard was leafless and frozen. But Hermione raised her wand, moved it in a circle through the air, and a wreath of Christmas roses blossomed before them. Harry caught it and laid it on his parents' grave.
As soon as he stood up he wanted to leave: He did not think he could stand another moment there. He put his arm around Hermione's shoulders, and she put hers around his waist, and they turned in silence and walked away through the snow, past Dumbledore's mother and sister, back toward the dark church and the out-of-sight kissing gate.
If it was intended to be a totally platonic visit, why a pose that's very romantic? Also, as someone else had mentioned in their blog, Harry rarely (if never) initiates physical contact with anyone.
There's also a kissing gate present in the Church.
It seems as if JKR has got a flair for writing co-incidences that further cement the H/Hr relationship.
Underrated moment:
Ernie Macmillion's change of heart:
This is simply beautiful, and even more so as Macmillion was aware that Harry can speak Parseltongue (an ability commonly associated with Dark Wizards).
What happens when students are mysteriously turning into stone, and you figure out that one of them was "egging on" a snake during a duelling club? A boy, moreover, who dislikes the Muggles he lives with? Someone who managed to defeat Lord Voldemort himself?
Hmm...
The logical conclusion would be that Harry's got a hand in it. Ernie believed that Harry Potter was the one Petrifying everyone, even a few weeks/months after the attacks stopped.
What takes the Hufflepuff to bring him to his senses?
The fact that Harry would never harm his Muggle-born friend.
I know it's a little thing, but it shows that the whole school (indeed, Ernie belonged to a different House) was aware of how close Harry and Hermione were together.
Note that he'd apologized immediately after a double-attack.
"Harry, harm Hermione Granger? Impossible!"
Macmillian was the one being paranoid, and told tales about Harry to Hannah Abbot.
And yet a single thing changed his mind completely.
To wind up, I'mma give you another part from the first book:
It was as though an iron fist had clenched suddenly around Harry's heart. Over the rustling of the trees, he seemed to hear once more what Hagrid had told him on the night they had met: "Some say he died. Codswallop, in my opinion. Dunno if he had enough human left in him to die." "Do you mean," Harry croaked, "that was Vol-" "Harry! Harry, are you all right?" Hermione was running toward them down the path, Hagrid puffing along behind her.
What's noteworthy is that Hermione apparently doesn't care about staying close to Hagrid and protecting herself. She's so worried about what's happened to Harry that she's rushing along in front of Hagrid.
Throughout the books, you can see Harry being protective of Hermione.
The feeling's mutual ;)

Here's my 100 questions for my OC thing!
My OC is Laureli, a 6'2 Altmer trying to make his way in Skyrim
1. What do they smell like?
Whatever alchemy ingredient he’s been working with, really. Lavender is what he smells like most often, though.
2. What is their voice like?
A smooth-ish medium pitch Altmer voice that has elements of calm and irritation.
3. What is their biggest motivator?
Helping others through his alchemy. He wants to improve medicine for Skyrim, as well as all of Tamriel.
4. What is their most embarrassing memory?
He had a whole scientific presentation one year that ended up being completely wrong. He got humiliated in front of everyone.
5. How do they deal with/react to pain?
Winces at it, curses, and then gets to treating the problem.
6. What do they like to wear?
Functional clothes that keep him warm and allow him to carry alchemy ingredients in his pockets.
7. Which of their relationships have impacted them most positively?
The relationships with some of the people he’s helped over the years. It gave him a sense of purpose and fulfillment knowing that he could help people, save people.
8. What’s the weirdest thing they’ve ever eaten?
He’s an alchemist...in Skyrim...I’m pretty sure there are a few contenders… (giants toe, large/small antlers, ectoplasm, the list goes on)
9. Describe the way that they sleep.
Normal side sleeper. Prefers to sleep on his left side.
10. What is their favorite food/kind of food?
Horker stew. It’s actually way better than he thought it would be.
11. What do they feel most insecure about?
If what he’s doing is good enough. He has big problems with perfectionism that still persist with him even after leaving Summerset.
12. How do they like to dress?
Robes with an alchemy enchantment and a hood.
13. How do they react to feelings of guilt?
He tries to shake them off, but has panic attacks and whatnot sometimes as a result of them.
14. How do they react to/deal with betrayal?
Is completely shattered by it. He’s dealt with this so many times before, though, so he keeps his cards close to his chest.
15. What is their greatest achievement?
Creating potions that help much more than the average cure disease potion would, as well as all sorts of other concoctions. Also, he’s created a sort of disinfectant and is working on a hand sanitizer.
16. What are they like when they’ve gotten too little sleep?
Cranky, cranky, cranky.
17. What are they like when they’re drunk?
Drunk? Oh no no no no Laureli does not drink (and even if he did he’d be out real quick)
18. What kind of music do they enjoy?
He isn’t really into music, but he enjoys the songs the bard plays at the Bannered Mare.
19. Are they right or left handed?
Right, but is practicing with his left hand too in case something happens to his right.
20. Fears?
Death and failure, mostly.
21. Favorite kind of weather?
As the sun rises and there’s dew all over the grass, the light reflecting through each drop.
22. Favorite color?
The color of eyes. Or, more specifically, the hundreds of little pinpricks of different colors inside of eyes, It’s really quite fascinating.
23. Do they collect anything?
OH YEAH. So many different alchemy ingredients and random stuff to be used in his next works-
24. Do they prefer either hot or cold weather more?
Cold, which is good since he lives in Skyrim.
25. What is their eye color?
Chartreuse (like most Altmer)
26. What is their race/ethnicity?
Altmer
27. Hair color?
White
28. Are they happy where they are currently?
Yup. Breezehome is small, but manageable, and Whiterun is a decent hold to live in.
29. Are they a morning person?
Yes. He gets tired around 9 and can’t stay up past 12.
30. Sunrise or sunset?
Sunrise.
31. Are they more messy or more organized?
Very organized. Again, he’s a perfectionist.
32. Pet peeves?
People touching his things as well as people inserting themselves into his business.
33. Do they own any objects of significant personal importance?
An amulet of Talos a Nord gave him. He hadn’t gotten the chance to learn much about Talos at home, and he found it very interesting talking to the local Nords about their beliefs. That amulet reminds him of his first day in Skyrim, the first day of his new life.
34. Least favorite food?
Taffy treats, or anything with that sort of texture and stickiness that can get stuck to his teeth very easily.
35. Least favorite color?
Very pale green. It looks gross.
36. Least favorite smell?
Death. (Yes, death has a smell)
37. When was the last time they cried?
Recently.
38. Were they with anybody the last time they cried?
No. Oh Auri-el, no no no no. He cries alone and he makes sure of it.
39. Tell us about one of the times they got injured?
Was in a fire when he was younger, he has a burn going up the inner leg on his right leg.
40. Do they have any scars?
Only mental ones. (and the burn scar on his leg)
41. Do they struggle with any mental health issues?
Perfectionism, past abuse, self hate, among others.
42. Do they have any bad habits?
Picking at his nails. He knows it makes them hurt and get bloody, but sometimes he just can’t help it.
43. Why might someone dislike them?
He can be very rude if he’s working, but to be fair, it is really annoying to be bothered in the middle of your work.
44. Why might someone love them?
Who wouldn’t love an overworked science boye? But in all seriousness, if he loves someone, he will be very caring towards them and is also just great listener. Tries not to care any more though because of personal trauma.
45. Do they believe in ghosts?
Yup. He’s heard of people’s encounters with them. Honestly, you’d be stupid to not believe in them.
46. Is there anyone they would trust with their lives?
At this point? No. Farkas later down the line? Yes.

Farkas, but we ain’t talking about that yet~

No

No. Please do not surprise this poor man he will stagger back and crash into everything.

He takes a few seconds to acknowledge it and then gets on with his work.

Yup! A Mom, a Dad, a younger sister, and a male cousin that lives nearby (he’s in the Thalmor and the whole family has very Pro-Thalmor views)

HAH- no~

INTJ (Damn this list for making me look up stereotypes for this. Honestly I hate the MBTI system so much-)

Virgo

Yes, but they are often so tangled up that it’s hard to get any real meaning from them.

“It’s fine, it’s fine, I’ll be fine-” Hopes that he’ll be fine but is really scared about it.
60. What is something that they’re sure to laugh at?
Bad science puns. He will stifle a chuckle before telling you how bad your joke was.
61. When bored, how do they pass time?
This man does not get bored. He will always find something alchemy related to study or look into.
62. Do they enjoy being outside?
Yes. Laureli loves the Skyrim weather (for the most part. Places like Dawnstar and Winterhold suck)

Yes. He has the typical Altmer accent.

“Why is this here? This isn’t mine.”

He would probably take too long deciding and die before he could do/say anything.

Sex repulsed asexual.

Nope.

He’s seen so much it would take a lot to surprise him here.

Grumpy scientist with no people skills.

Nope, unless you press his buttons. His anger is pretty much “What in the name of Auri-el is wrong with you?! Don’t touch my equipment!!”

Very...until you hit his limit. Then he gets passive aggressive.

Not really. He can be good at it, he just chose not to learn in favor of working on his projects. Can make enough to live on, though.
77. Favorite insult? Do they insult people often?
He doesn't have a favorite insult (he rarely insults people).
78. How do they act when they’re particularly happy?
Talking fast, pacing, flappy hands.

Try to avoid bringing those fears up around them and avoiding making fun of them. If their fear is nearby, he will either tell them or take care of it. (which is good because Farkas is scared of spiders)

Yes, but you have to be a very certain kind of person to work with him.

Sometimes, especially romantic feelings. Romantic attraction? Nope, not possible- (It totally is; he’s in denial)

With all of the walking he does around various holds, yes.

Yes. He’s a perfectionist with many things, but has learned to let go a bit more when it comes to his appearance. He still will take ages to get ready, though.

Tattoos, braids, basically everything you’d see on a typical Nord. It’s so different from his home and he’s completely enamored.
85. What kind of personalities do they find attractive?
Himbo nord men. Sweet morons basically.
86. Do they like sweet foods?
Not really. Sweet foods do have their place, but he isn’t wanting to get any cavities, so he tries to limit his sugar. (Especially since Altmer live 200-300 years aprox)

52 (~20s for an Altmer)
88. Are they tall or short or somewhere in between?
Tall, but about average for an Altmer
89. Do they wear glasses or contacts?
No, but if he did he would have half-moon spectacles.

Not really. He doesn’t really think anyone is attractive. (Well, except for Nord himbos, but he doesn’t know that until he meets Farkas)

Practically nonexistent, but when there is humor it’s mostly dry and sardonic.

That sort of focused work mode you get in when you’re really concentrating, as well as somewhat-sociable-but-still-kind-of-tired-and-grumpy
93. What kinds of things anger them?
People messing up his equipment. Oh sweet Auri-el, if you touch his things he will explode. Also, he hates the racism that the Thalmor promote. (He hates racism in general, but he hates the Thalmor’s views the most).
94. Outlook on life?
“It sucks, but I do find quite a bit fascinating and I’ll help where I can.”
95. What kind of things make them sad/depressed?
His perfectionism, how lonely he knows he is, and more.
96. What is their greatest weakness?
Again, his perfectionism, as well as having his work dictate more in his life than he should.
97. What is the greatest strength?
His brain. He remembers small details extremely well, and is practically an encyclopedia when it comes to alchemy.
98. Something that they regret?
How awful he used to be to everyone back home. He got a lot of pushback on his dreams and who he was, so he lashed out. Even though there wasn’t much he could do there, he still regrets hiring his family and wants to try at a relationship again with them (lol good luck).
99. Biggest accomplishment?
How is this different from ��Greatest Achievement”?
100. Create your own! (Why is his alchemy so different from the norm?)
Because he’s trying to do something much more along the lines of modern medicine as opposed to just potions.
101. (Bonus!) Why is he in Skyrim?
Because it’s rather lacking in the medicine department compared to the other provinces, so he decided his talents would be best used there. Obviously, his family protested, but he went anyways.

Goo Town USA
Summary: Remus and Anti find someone in the sewer system of Gainesville, and it’s not a dead body.
A/N: Happy Birthday, Remus!
Remus was walking around town, it had been a while since he’d gotten to do so and Janus was too busy to keep babysitting him. So he was currently spending his time trespassing right into the heart of Dark’s territory. Which typically ended with Dark finding him, batting him around with his aura and then dumping him back into Gainesville for Janus to find and deal with later.
But Dark was busy with his new triplet spawnlings, not that Remus knew that or was going to learn that for a while. So Remus was calmly strolling down the street when Anti flung himself out of a telephone pole next to Dark’s warehouses and just bolted.
“Hey, Anti,” Remus smiled at Anti who raced past him as if he was set on fire.
“Come on, let’s go!” Anti shouted. He had a skeletal metal hand in his hands. Remus naturally bolted to follow him.
“Anti!” Google’s voice shouted in an absolute rage as he chased them. Remus took out his mace and with a mad cackle spun on his heels and charged at the android. Google protectively spilt into a cloud and after a couple swings he raced away from Google and in the chase the android lost Anti because he was trying to pursue Remus and Remus eventually slipped into the sewers where he and Anti frequently liked to hide out because most of their opponents had too much pride to follow them in there . . . along with an actual sense of smell.
“Yeh[1] lose him?” Anti asked as Remus frog splashed into the disgusting trash water.
Remus gave him a thumb’s up before picking himself up. He noticed that Anti was holding a skeletal robotic hand.
“Aghhh,” Anti complained. “It was finally gettin[2] fun.”
“Should I go find him?” Remus offered.
“Nah, it’s fine,” Anti huffed out. “Don’t know why e’eryone in this fookin’ town is so borin’ an’ shite all ‘a the sudden.”[3]
Then he bit off one of the fingers of the hand. Remus frowned at him for a bit before smiling again and getting closer to the glitch demon. “Wanna[4] share?”
Anti chuckled and tossed him the pinky finger and Remus accepted it gladly.
Remus summoned his mace and rested his hands and chin on the bottom flat of the mace, pouting. “I’m not bor~ing, am I, Anti?”
The glitch demon frowned and thought about that, “Depends, yer not gonna give chaos up fer Dee, are yeh?”[5]
“I would never,” Remus huffed out in offense. “How dare you think so little of me?”
“Then yer not borin’,”[6] Anti told him.
“Yay!” Remus cheered and threw his hands up, his mace falling into the water.
“Yeah,” Anti wrapped an arm around Remus’s neck and pulled him in. “Cause yer my favorite human, ain’tcha?”[7]
“Awww,” Remus pinched his cheeks. “Is swomeone’s gettin’ swoft, Anti?”[8]
“Shut up,” Anti grumbled and pushed Remus away from him. “Yeh[1] wanna[4] go draw on the police station again?”
“Fuck yes,” Remus said, kicking around in the sewer water for his mace instead of summoning it like a reasonable person. “Will Mare be there?”
And that was the wrong thing to say.
“Fook ‘im!”[9] Anti spat angrily. “Gobshite’s got some new shiny pact mate eatin’ up his time, an’ I can’t find Wil. He’s prolly up Dark’s arse or somethin’.”[10]
“Huh,” Remus said as he began to reach into the water for his mace.
“Lucky fer him I’ve been too busy ta gut him an’ so I got angry ‘cause I couldn’t find some shitesleeve,”[11] Anti scoffed. “Went ta[12] go bother Google, got bored, got hungry.”
Anti gestured with the metal hand he still had and was in the process of eating it.
Remus nodded and touched something but when he pulled it out it wasn’t his mace. It was a human head. A redhead with glasses and green slime oozing out of his head. The water at this point in the sewer wasn’t deep enough to vertically submerge a body.
And Remus should know, he’d tried to hide a body in these sewers more than once.
Confused, Remus stuck the head back into the water, hoping that when he pulled it back out the person would be his mace instead.
It wasn’t.
“The fook[13] is that?” Anti asked.
“Hi, I’m Slime, uhh, I mean I’m Meat, Meat and Bone,” Slime introduced as he stood up out of the sludge water.
“Okay,” Anti smiled, poking the green jelly oozing from his head. “Meat, how do yeh[1] feel about death?”
“Well,” Slime hummed, his throat doing a weird, disgusting gurgling that Remus found absolutely fascinating and wanted to poke at the green viscous gloop that made up the bottom of his neck to see what was making the noise. “Everyone just shambles around until eventually they fall apart and become dust.”
Remus began cackling in laughter and soon Anti was joining him. Slime looked at them in confusion before starting to copy their mad laughter but sounding a lot more forced and crazed which only delighted both Remus and Anti more.
They stopped and Slime was still laughing for a full second before he awkwardly cut himself off.
“Dibs,” Remus proclaimed and grabbed Slime around the waist, lifting him up like an oversized rag doll. “Let’s go.”
“Yes, I have so many ribs,” Slime reassured loudly as Remus and Anti began heading out of the sewers, Remus summoned a couple of his tendrils to climb out without letting go of his new friend, and Anti used the nearest open wire. “And they are all mine.”
Anti immediately recognized that he was right next to the bar Mare liked to crash at when he wasn’t with Nate.
“Give me a sec,” Anti spat and stomped over to the bar and kicked in the door. “Mare! The fook[13] are yeh[1]?”
Mare was talking to the bartender, his new pact mate sitting at the other side of the bar, just feeding off of the aura in the patrons in the bar with Mare.
“Anti?” Mare asked in confusion, getting up.
Anti kicked over the nearest table, uncaring if there were people or drinks at it.
“Hey!” Mare spat and raced over to him, throwing himself at Anti and the two started getting into a fist fight with each other and Mare kicked him out of the bar.
Remus started cheering them on, summoning up some anchors to enjoy the fight and holding some out for Slime who took some and smashed it to his face instead of eating it.
Mad followed the fight out of the bar and tried to help Mare but was elbowed away by the two demons as they fought it out until both of them were covered in scratches from aura and claws.
“The fuck is wrong with you!” Mate spat in anger as they pulled away. It was a reprieve in the fight, the fight would either stop here or keep going depending on their conversation.
“Fook[13] you!” Anti spat at Mare. “Yeh get some new friend, an’ yeh leave me behind!”[14]
“Hey, should I?” Mad motioned behind himself.
“No, just,” Mare told Mad before turning back to Anti. “I didn’t leave you behind, you had your head up your ass chasing Henrik’s ass. I let you do what you want but when I deal with my shit, you get fucking pissed.”
Anti was quiet, fuming angrily for a bit. “Look I don’t care if yer fookin’ him or whate’er, I just care about havin’ some fookin fun.”[15]
“We’re not,” Mare rolled his eyes and sighed, “I’m not too busy to turn this town upside-down.”
“Promise?” Anti demanded. “I’m yer[16] favorite demon right? Not him?”
“No, he’s just my pact mate,” Mare told him as Mad just stared at them in confusion.
“Yeh[1] swear?” Anti glared at him .
“Yes, obviously, you fucking asshat,” Mare told him.
“I better be, yeh[1] gobshite[17],” Anti agreed before turning to Mare, “he’s my fookin’ friend, yeh got that?”[18]
“Uhhh, yeah, whatever,” Mad held up his hands and stared at Anti like he was insane.
“Exactly,” Anti reinforced. “Anyways, yeh[1] two wanna come an’[19] commit some chaos?”
“Hell yeah,” Mare gave him a thumbs up. “Hey Mad, come on, I gotta[20] introduce you to Anti here?”
“Doesn’t he work for Dark?” Mad was watching Anti carefully.
“I don’t do shite fer that arsehole,”[21] Anti spat down at the ground. “We just happen ta agree on a couple things. Dark is a fookin’ shitehead an’ the only good thing about him is the spawnlings he collected an’ the fact he’s datin’ Wil.”[22]
Then he clapped Mare on the back, “Come on, I’ve got a gang leader ta[13] kill.”
“I thought we were committing chaos?” Mare reminded, quirking an eyebrow at him.
“Yeah, but some arse[23] attacked Kay an’[19] Lunky,” Anti spat. “So if I can find this arsehole an’ gut him like a fookin’ fish fer touchin’ ‘em.”[24]
Then Anti remembered something, and felt dumb for not remembering it sooner. “Hey, Remus, yer[16] from Gainesville, who are all the gang leaders in yer[16] city?”
Remus shrugged, “Ask Dee.”
“Yeah fook[13],” Anti agreed, “he would know.”
The glitch thought on that, before he shrugged, “Welp, time ta burn shite until he shows up. Or the heroes do an’ I can just ask them.”[25]
“Yeah!” Remus pumped his fists in the air supportively.
And that’s what they did. It didn’t take long for Remus to teach Slime how to become an arsonist, Remus just set a burning Molotov cocktail in his hand and pointed Slime at something and told him to throw it. Slime barely had the second one in his hand and Remus was trying to light it when Janus showed up.
“The devil are you doing?” Janus shouted.
“Burning stuff,” Remus supplied helpfully.
“I’m an Aaronist!” Slime shouted.
“Arsonist,” Mare corrected with a smile.
“Why in our town?” Janus demanded. “Why not do this in Egoton?”
Remus shrugged and Janus groaned in frustration.
Which is exactly when a shrill bird whistle called out. “Hey Meat, what’cha[26] doing?”
Janus startled and turned directly behind him to see a man in a button shirt and suspended, with a black beanie and a thick scar over his left eye.
Slime smiled and walked over to the newcomer, holding out the unlit Molotov. “Quackity, look, I am arsonist now.”
“El Espíritu me directo, porque este chamaco va a ser como Tubbo,”[27] Quackity groaned and rubbed at the bridge of his eye. “Come on, we gotta[20] go before you get us arrested.”
“How long were you following me?” Janus demanded angrily.
“Relax, I just wanted to talk,” Quackity said, moving Slime behind him. “I just didn’t expect our next meeting to be this soon.”
He took out a white business card out of his sleeve and with a soft puff of air he blew it with magic towards Remus, who caught it mostly out of reflex. “For your boss.”
Remus blinked as Janus glared at Quackity. But he brought the card over to the deceitful Side, who ripped up the card and threw it back at Remus. The creative Side ate one of the scraps out of the air like a deranged piranha. “We want nothing to do with you.”
“You sure you can’t tell the big man?” Quackity tried to convince Janus. “Come on.”
“You have me confused with someone who takes orders,” Janus scoffed. “Which I assure you, I do not.”
Quackity had a huge, smug smile on his face. “Right, big guy. Tell you what. You swear off your lies, and I’ll swear off mine. ¿Entiendes?[28]”
He clicked his tongue and winked his good eye as he pulled out an orb of swirling green aura. Slime broke apart into a swirl of vicious green gloop and swirled around Quackity as the man threw the orb and it sailed a far distance away.
A great eye opened up for a second or two and the two were gone. Leaving Deceit with the other villains.
Janus glared at where they had been before turning back to Remus. “Do not talk to that man again.”
Remus slouched a little and pouted. Janus didn’t reinforce his order, he just stormed off, one of his serpentine familiars slipped away to go find Logan. Remus was left to continue causing trouble with the rest of his friends. If he saw Slime again and caused trouble in Gainesville again, Janus didn’t threaten him to stay away again, knowing that Remus wouldn’t follow the order.

bio.
malia is an aspiring cook and has a ratatouille style backstory of having a lifelong love and passion for food, so i’m going to issue a general food tw. here up front, for mentions of her emotional attachement to cooking and food, just in case.
death tw.  malia grew up the absolute center of her father’s world. her mother passed away when she was a toddler, before malia even got to know her, and her father took this as a call to action: he was all his daughter had, and he was determined to make sure that was more than enough. and it was.  while there’ll always be part of malia that’s disappointed she’d never had the mother-daughter experience so many of her friends did, she had her dad, who cared about her more than anyone should be allowed to care about a person, and that was enough.
so,  while the start of her life was impacted by a sense of tragedy, for the most part, her childhood was idyllic. when she was eight, she moved in an apartment in delphinus heights that was full with love and music and food ----  lots and lots of food. her father was a chef and, for most of her life, the owner of what he swore up and down was irving’s first and only truly authentic italian restaurant, terra & mare. being able to open the restaurant is what brought them to irving in the first place. overall, food was a huge part of their household: it was the job that kept the lights on, little treats for breakfast and dessert were a love language, and cooking dinner together every night was their daily routine. it’s one of her favorite childhood memories, and something that definitely left an impression on her.
her father had no problem letting her pitch in around the restaurant. she started waitressing when she was fourteen and after a few years of putting her time in upfront, he let her back into the kitchen with the big dogs. she did mostly prepwork, but she loved the electricity of the kitchen: getting to hear orders come in, the little dance they all did to make do with what limited space they had, and watching plates go out, a little work of collective art just waiting to be eaten. she wanted to carry on the family business, step up into her father’s footsteps as head chef one day. she wanted to keep the feeling of being apart of that kitchen team forever.
in her personal life, things kept that magical tone, for the most part. because she was the apple of her father’s eye, he tried to shelter her from as much as possible. thorough high school, she was just a fun, nice person to be around because she was just a genuinely very happy person. the biggest rebellion she had was the week her father first floated the idea of dating again past her, because she was very protective of their little thing, but in the end, they worked it out and within a few years she ended up with a step-mom she gets along just fine with. 
but one day, all that magic fun idealism had to end. her junior year of high school, as she started wide-eye scanning the pamphlets of any culinary school in a hundred mile radius, the rug was pulled out from under the serrano’s. her father had never mentioned it to her, as not to worry her, but the family had gone bankrupt trying to keep terra & mare afloat. the restaurant would close, college was likely not an option for her anymore, and her father had worked himself near ragged trying to keep it all afloat, only exasperating issues he’d already had with a bad knee and high blood pressure.
all at once, malia’s world kind of came crashing in on her. she couldn’t hold it against her father, for the most part, because he was only trying to make what she had left of her childhood was carefree. but she wished she had a little warning for how abrupt the rug would be pulled out from under her feet, but at the end of the day, it doesn’t help anything to hold it against him. 
since she graduated, it’s just kind of been a game of putting her nose to the grindstone and hoping for the best. she’s trying to get back to that sense of security she once had, but it’s hard. to go from this picture perfect, for what it was, life to a sense of panic that she’ll be helping her dad dig himself out of this hole for a while, putting her dreams on hold in the long run, has been an adjustment.
instead of going off to school, she started working as many hours as she can at cutie pie’s and taking odd jobs here and there to try and pull it together. she’s still got her big plans: in a perfect world, one day, she’ll bring back terra & mare, but she’ll settle for any kitchen that allows her to play around a little more than burgers and fries.

Pairing: CEO!Sam Wilson x Reader
Summary: Sam is the CEO of the Red Wing PR agency where Reader has been working for the past two years. Problem is, they both think one hates the other. However, when their friends set them up on a blind date, they’ll realise that it was all a big misunderstanding.

“What do you think about him, Nat?”
Maria shoves her phone in Natasha’s face, stopping the redhead from biting into her taco. Nat doesn’t seem to mind though. She’s used to Maria’s antics.
“Hmm, no. She’d leave halfway through the date,” Natasha said, scrunching her nose at the screen.
“Hum, hello? I’m right here?” you wave your hands in front of their faces and scoff when they look at you like you just interrupted a discussion at the Pentagon. “Can you guys do this another time?”
When Maria and Natasha offered to set you up on a blind date a few days ago, you thought they were joking. Which is understandable, you know, they had a few drinks in them already and it was late. So you just laughed the absurd conversation off like a normal person.
The only issue is, they were dead serious and to this day, they’re still looking for a date. You would try to stop them, but you gave up two days ago after they got your sister Noelle involved. That traitor agreed to team up with them to find you a date because – and quote “your coochie is probably covered in spiderwebs already”. After that you decided to let them have their fun. Not because your coochie is… your coochie is fine, okay? Thank you very much.
Natasha finally takes a bite of her taco, the crunch of the tortilla making you wince slightly, and turns her attention back to the phone. You scoff at the blatant disrespect. Unfortunately, the action doesn’t pair well with the grain of rice that was apparently stuck in your throat and you start coughing like a madwoman.
This is the moment your boss chooses to sneak a peek in Maria’s office.
“Hey ladies—woah, is everything okay?” Mr. Wilson asks, slightly alarmed.
You nod as best as you can, your eyes filled with tears, and turn your back to him in hopes to preserve your last ounce of dignity as you choke on your miserable grain of rice. Maria hands you a bottle of water as Natasha reassures Mr. Wilson.
“We’re okay, Sam. She’s just enjoying her sushi a bit too much.”
“Oh. See you later, then.”
You don’t see him wave, and you don’t see the look your friends share either.
“Oh my God!” You exhale once the cough is gone. “I just saw my life flash before my eyes.”
“Oh please, would you stop being such a drama queen?”
Nat hands you a napkin and you use it to dry your tears. You’ll touch up your makeup after lunch.
You brush off the comment and take another sip of water before you speak. “I feel like the esteem he has for me is totally gone by now. Or do you think there’s still a bit left? I mean I outdid myself with the Drax event last month.”
“Sam doesn’t hate you. He’s just…”
You raise your eyebrows at Maria, waiting for her to finish her sentence but nothing comes. You throw your arms in the air in defeat.
For a reason unknown to you, Sam Wilson, CEO of the PR agency Red Wing, does not like you very much. At least that’s what you’re assuming. You’ve never done anything but a good job for the two years you’ve been working at the company and yet, every time you make eye contact with the man he averts his gaze like you’re Medusa or something. The worst thing is, he’s friendly with almost everyone else. Natasha is one of his closest friends, and in a relationship with his best friend – she practically helped him build the company. So yes, you kind of feel like the black sheep of the office.
“You know what,” you say, pouring more soy sauce in the little receptacle that came with the food. “Maybe something’s keeping him away from me, the universe—or God, and maybe that’s for the best.” You finish with a shrug.
“Believe it or not, Sam’s actually a decent person.”
“Okay.”
Natasha and Maria share another look before the three of you move onto another topic as you finish your lunch.
The rest of the afternoon at work is uneventful. All of your projects are up to date already because you like to be ahead of things, so you decide to just call it a day and head home early.
Before you do, you drop by Maria’s office to say bye. She simply nods and waves without taking the phone away from her ear. And of course Natasha’s office is the last stop.
Her blinds are always drawn over the glass walls, so you never know what happens in there. The last time you barged in her office she was making out with her boyfriend James, and God help you, you never want to know what would have happened if you’d gone in there a minute later. So naturally you knock, then go in when she answers.
And you freeze in the doorway.
Mr. Wilson is in here. That’s not uncommon. She’s his right hand lady. They’re almost always together. You know that. So why are you standing here awkwardly? Mr. Wilson smiles at you. It’s a polite smile – a professional smile – the kind that doesn’t really reach his eyes and for a moment you wonder what he looks like when he smiles from the heart.
That is before he looks away and shakes his head, like he can’t even stand the sight of you. You hold the sigh and the eye roll.
“I just wanted to say bye,” you say to Natasha. “I’m heading home early.”
“All right, sugar. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
You give her a smile then head out, finally releasing that sigh.
Home is where the heart is. And what better way to describe your eight year old niece than that?
Michelle is the light of your life. She’s the smartest, funniest little girl you’ve ever met and a gift that keeps on giving. She arrived when you were still in college, and you moved in with your sister, at her request, when Michelle was born. The three of you have been inseparable ever since.
Usually at this time of the day, Michelle would still be at school, but she’s recovering from a cold and her mom doesn’t want her near other kids during this time.
The sound of “Almost There” from The Princess and the Frog greets you as you step into the foyer of your home. You hum along quietly as you kick your heels off, get rid of your coat and leave your purse on the messy console.
“Sounds like you’re feeling better Mimi,” you tease the little girl with a smile once you get to the living room.
She immediately stops singing along and runs toward you to give you a hug.
“I am! But mommy said I can’t go to school for another couple of days,” she pouts.
“She’s right, that was a nasty cold you had there.”
Mimi throws her head back in a dramatic groan which makes you chuckle. She loves going to school and learning, which is something you’re very grateful for. Homework time always goes smoothly and she’s actually excited to go to school in the morning.
Your niece goes back to the couch and buries herself under the mountain of blankets and pillows before she turns her attention back to the movie.
“Hey Noelle,” you greet your sister when you get to the kitchen.
You’re not actually hungry but you could use a cookie or two. Maybe three.
“Hey,” Noelle lifts her eyes from her laptop. “You’re home early.”
“Yeah, I was done with today’s work. I can see you can’t say the same for yourself.”
Noelle rolls her eyes. “Elena just dumped two new manuscripts on my ass. Thank God I love my job and the pay because girl, I’m exhausted.” She takes her glasses off and rubs her eyes with the heels of her hands.
“Tea?”
“Yes, please.”
You pour water in the kettle and set it on the stove. You take out two mugs, a Tinkerbell one for Noelle and a Dumbo one for you, your favourite jasmine tea bags and honey.
“How was work?” Noelle asks as she shut her laptop and puts in on top of the pile of manuscripts next to her.
“The usual. Nat and Maria are still bothering me with this blind date business and I blame you for it.”
“Me?” Noelle feigns innocence with a hand on her chest.
It’s your turn to roll your eyes.
Seeing that you’re not buying her cheap act, Noelle straightens in her seat and starts fiddling with the Post-Its sticking out of the manuscripts. “Actually, I think we found someone.”
You nearly drop the teaspoons you’re holding.
“You what?”
“You heard me.”
You narrow your eyes at her.
You’ve always had a good relationship with your sister. She’s your best friend, she’s been by your side through every rough patch of your life, and you know she’ll always be here for you. But sometimes, she really, really gets on your goddamn nerves. Not just because of situations like these. Noelle is the kind of person who puts everyone’s needs before her own, that is why she often finds herself drowning in a sea of problems that aren’t even hers. More than once you’ve had to be the one to pull her out of the water.
The whistle of the kettle makes you stop with the murder glare and you pour the water into the mugs.
“You have to stop being so wary. Don’t you trust us?”
“Not right now, no.”
Noelle gives you a look.
“Just give it a chance.”
“Oh, like you gave a chance to Amara’s mom?” you say, eyebrows raised and voice dripping with sass.
“It’s not—She—I’m busy with the—”
“Aht aht! I don’t wanna hear it!” you raise your hand and grab your mug, heading to the living room.
You settle on the couch with Noelle and Mimi – who’s now watching some kids’ cooking show-- and the three of you  enjoy the rest of the afternoon together.
Some time during the evening, while you’re going through your skin care routine, your phone dings with a message notification. It says Natasha added you to the group chat Spider Coochie.
These girls…
Nat: So… we found someone.
Maria: This is amazing. I’m already excited.
Noelle: GIRL.
You: You can’t be serious.
Maria: Oh but we are.
Nat: Friday night, L’Orage, 8:00. “Spider” is what you’ll say to the host.
You: “Spider”? Are you fucking kidding me?
You hear Noelle cackle as you sit on the edge of you bed.
Maria: Hey, it was your sister’s idea.
You roll your eyes.
You: Can I at least get a hint?
Noelle: Hell no.
Nat: Everything’s gonna be fine. You can go to bed now.
You: Ugh. I don’t even have the strength to argue with you.
Maria: Good.
You lock your phone with a loud groan – loud enough to make sure Noelle hears it from wherever she is – and you let your body fall on the mattress.
As much as you try to pretend you’re annoyed by all of this, you can’t help but be excited by the idea. A bit curious as well. But you trust your friends. They would never put you in an embarrassing position and pair you up with some awful sewer rat.
A sigh leaves your lips.
As the saying goes: “Curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back.”

“Remind me again–and this is in no way me saying that I don’t wanna go–but… why exactly are we doing this?”
Peter shifts slightly under MJ’s gaze from the passenger seat, the car suddenly feeling approximately a thousand degrees hotter. He chuckles, then clears his throat, his hands flexing against the still-cold steering wheel, hoping he doesn’t seem as nervous as he feels. 
But keeping his eyes trained to the winding roads in front of them, drumming his thumbs at ten and two, he finally glances over. 
“…Because.”
Yup. 
Totally inconspicuous.
He’s never acted more naturally in his life. 
Her expression falls as she fixes him with a deadpan stare. 
A light laugh bubbles up out of him all on it’s own. “Because….” He repeats himself, voice trailing off, mentally scrambling to find anything that wasn’t the real reason for this two-and-a-half hour journey into the country. “I thought it would be fun!” He finally spits out, though he doesn’t relax just yet. From the corner of his eye, he can see MJ staring, sizing him up, calculating. 
For some reason–gee, wonder what it could be–he feels compelled to just keep talking. “Plus! You said you’d never been on a sleigh ride before–like a real one, with jingles bells and everything–so, I thought, well, we absolutely had to fix that.”
Which wasn’t technically a lie. Peter thought a ride in a how-ever-many-horse open sleigh was something everyone had to experience at least once in their life. Sitting bundled up with loved ones in the back of the sleigh, the cold winter wind biting at your cheeks and nose, oh-so-festive ringing of the sleigh bells, the horses’ hooves in the snow–it was something you just couldn’t experience the same way without getting out of the city. 
Ben and May had taken him once, a long time ago, when he was just a kid. They hadn’t done it again, being as even just an hour ride can cost more the Parker’s could afford, but it’s a memory that always brings a fuzzy warmth to his chest. It’s something that he’ll always treasure, something that he’ll always be grateful for. 
But, sound as all that was, it wasn’t the real reason. 
No, the real reason was currently in a tiny black velvet box nestled deep in his pocket. 
MJ didn’t need to know that. 
But it wasn’t as if his proposal was going to be a surprise by any means. For months, even years now, they’d talked about marriage. There was a whole timeline and everything. Year four into the relationship, they moved in together, and now it had been nearly a year and a half of that. Engagement, they’d decided, would come towards the end of undergrad. Then, there would be another two-ish years of wedding planning before the big event would actually take place. 
Obviously, this wasn’t a strict timeline by any means; in fact, it acted as more of a guideline, something they could loosely follow. They’d already broken it once, moving in together six months after they’d originally planned to, so an engagement just before their last semester starts was still in the ballpark.
Now, MJ had expressed before that he didn’t have to propose at all, that she would be perfectly fine with just going out to buy a ring together, posting on instagram or something, and calling it good. 
But, on the other hand she also knew that Peter would want to do something more… well, grand.
Which she was also perfectly fine with. 
All that mattered to her was being engaged to Peter. Why, where, or how that happened? She couldn’t care less. 
Even then, however, as much as she loved and sometimes tolerated Peter, there were still some rules. 
But…
Peter was willing to chance it. More than willing. In fact, this was the type of proposal he knows for a fact that she’d be 100% okay with, even with the conditions.
One, MJ loves animals. All animals. Each and every one. There’s not a dog, cat, hamster, guinea pig, bird, lizard, or bug she didn’t like, or that didn’t like her.  
“They’re better than people,” she’d once said, holding her grandmother’s wild-eyed tabby in her arms, the normally overly grumbly cat purring contentedly. She just had a way with the world’s furry, feathery, and scaly friends--something he’d seen all those years ago with the terrifying pigeons in Venice. 
Two, and this was important, this would not technically be in public, or in front of her family, two of the only conditions MJ had set for this. 
No crowds.
No getting down on one knee at Thanksgiving or Christmas. Or any major holiday for that matter.
Or her birthday. 
No ifs, ands, or buts.
And it--this proposal, right here, today--was neither of those things. The only audience they’d have being the one driving the sleigh, a lovely old man (a one Mr. Matthews) that Peter briefly talked on the phone with about this whole thing. Sure the older fellow was excited about the prospect of a young love, a new engagement, but it was clear that this wasn’t really something he was going to lose his mind about. 
“Hmm.” He hears her hum quietly as she angles her body forward, though she doesn’t seem to accept his answer, and rightly so. 
It’s odd; he fully expects her to keep poking at him, to ask him why he’s being so weird or, “weirder than normal,” even though she probably has an inkling as to why he’s acting so strange. 
And honestly, at this point, he’s almost 60% sure she knows exactly what’s going on. 
Oh well.
But surprisingly, she doesn’t grill him for the rest of the drive. Instead, they sit in a comfortable (well, at least she’s comfortable) silence, just enjoying the beauty of the emerging country around them, thankful for the cleared roads as the snow falls peacefully outside. 
Though, as beautiful as it is, that ring in his pocket is making him feel like his stomach is about to fall right out of his ass.
He almost–almost–relaxes when he sees the rustic wooden sign at the top of the hill, knowing that soon he’ll be able to get out of the car. But then, when they actually pull in and park, when they actually step out into the cold winter air again, that feeling comes right back. It annoyingly stays when they enter the main building to check in, when Mr. Matthews leads them to the stables and to the sleigh lead by two large brown horses
He almost doesn���t hear the driver telling them the mares’ names over the sound of his own heartbeat thumping in his ears. 
“Meet Juniper and Peanut,” the old man says, warmth in his tone as he moves to adjust the sleigh bells on the collars. 
“Oh my God, they’re so fuzzy…” MJ, in awe at the massive animals, mutters under her breath, close to Peter’s ear. 
“Yeah…” Peter agrees, his voice breathy, as he scratches the back of his neck. 
Without any prompt from either her boyfriend or their driver, Michelle walks up to the animals, hand carefully held out as she allows the two horses to smell her first. 
“Now, Juni here is a bit more of a grump. Bit more aloof. But Peanut, she loves pets. And treats. More than anything.”
Michelle huffs out in slight amusement, nodding once in understanding, though not looking away from the two horses. 
Juniper sniffs once before glancing away, her curiosity gone almost immediately and replaced with moderate disinterest, while Peanut revels in the attention, pushing her nose into MJ’s outstretched hand.
And again, Peter just about forgets why he’s so nervous, becoming too distracted by the soft smile on his girlfriend’s face, the way that expression breaks into a toothy grin when the other, more emotionally distant mare starts to gently nudge her arm for the same attention. 
Though that brief moment of internal calm is shattered by Mr. Matthews ushering them into the back of the sleigh. 
“You know, I’ve actually never been around horses before?” MJ asks as they climb into their seats, the driver reaching back to hand them a thick wool blanket for the ride. 
“Really?” Peter asks, the knot in his stomach still ever present. 
Mr. Matthews urges the horses onward and into the snow with a soft click and a flick of the reins.
MJ nods, scratching at her eyes. “Yeah, I’m pretty sure my last experience with them was that cartoon horse movie Matt Damon was in, like, forever ago.”
Peter’s brows crinkle in slight confusion and faint recognition. 
She answers her own unasked question before he can even open his mouth to speak. “Spirit.” She snaps her fingers “That’s the one.”
In spite of his nerves, he can’t help but laugh at that, though he can’t help but notice that slight chatter of her teeth when she speaks as they ride out into the farm. 
“You cold?” He asks, maybe a little bit dumbly.
She shakes her head. “Nuh uh.” A shiver. “This weather is just lovely.”
He chuckles lightly, and wordlessly, he scoots closer to her, taking her hand in his and interlocking their gloved fingers together, his heart soaring at the comforting warmth that comes from just how grand it feels. 
While it is the perfect weather for a two-horse sleigh, the winter chilled air nipping at his face, his cheeks, his nose, turning them a shade of red (one that he knows Michelle would probably tell him was “cute”)... it almost would have been too much for him. 
But again, there was a reason they were here, and besides, with MJ... 
He wasn’t gonna let this cold bother him. 
He gets this uncontrollable, dumb grin on his face, and he snuggles closer to her. 
“Lovely with you.”
To that, she fakes a gag, sniffling slightly as she tries to pull her hand away from his. “Ugh, gross.”
“Oh, sorry. I’ll stop. I’ll stop,” he gives the empty promise, throwing her a sly wink before squeezing her hand. 
A few beats of a peaceful quiet pass, the only sounds being the ringing of the bells and the crunch of snow. The snow falls around them in delicate, fluffy flakes, the stray ones being caught in his girlfriend’s curls. 
She leans her head against his, and he can almost feel her soft smile as he leans right back. 
“Is it okay if I sing a carol, or something?” Peter asks, the humor in his tone earning him a light smack on the arm. 
MJ sits back up, her glare almost menacing, save for the twitch of a barely amused smile tugging at the corner of her lips. She opens her mouth to speak, but is suddenly overcome, her eyes screwing shut, with a powerful--
“ACHOO!”
Peter nearly jumps. “Bless you?”
“Thanks.” MJ clears her throat, sniffling again. 
And it’s amazing that Peter hadn’t noticed in the nearly ten minutes they’d been in the sleigh; the whites of her eyes were almost entirely red, the bags under them slightly puffy. “You good?” He asks.
“Yeah!” MJ lies. “Yeah! I’m good. Just... some.... uh, sniffles. I guess.” She sneezes into the crook of her arm again. “Or, I don’t know, maybe it’s a minor allergic reaction to something. It’s fine.”
Peter wracked his brain for what that allergy could be; it wasn’t nuts, that he definitely knew, being one, that she didn’t have a history with that, and two, they hadn’t eaten anything of the sort. Dogs and cats were out of the question... so was... basically everything else... but...
The loud whinny of one of the mares cuts through his little internal monologue. 
Ah ha!
“Are you allergic to horses?”
MJ’s lips quirk into a quick frown and she shrugs, sniffling again. “Maybe?”
“Can you be allergic to horses?”
“You can be allergic to anything.”
Very true. 
And just like that, the guilt hits him like a train, seeing MJ suddenly looking so incredibly miserable and tired, sounding so congested, all because of his big, stupid, grand plan of proposing on what was supposed to be a romantic sleigh ride. 
“Don’t you dare apologize,” MJ cuts in before he can even think so say anything.
He opens his mouth to speak, dumbfounded. 
She continues. “It’s fine!” Sniffle. Sneeze. “It’s honestly fine. Don’t worry about it.”
Peter’s quiet for a moment, offering a silent, conceding nod.
His brow furrows in thought as he bites at the inside of his lip; he can’t in good conscience keep her out here just so he can carry out this little fairytale proposal he’d had thought out for so many months. It wouldn’t be right. She didn’t need him asking her to spend the rest of her life with him; she needed to go home, take some benadryl, maybe have some herbal tea, and get in bed. 
Another day, perhaps.
“Do you wanna go back?” He finally asks, defeated. 
She starts to shake her head before he even finishes that question, clearing her scratchy, barb-wire throat. “No! This was what…. 200 dollars? We’re not going back just because I can’t handle a little horse dander.”
“...Are you sure?”
“Yes.” She grabs his hand again, pulling him back to her. “Now, calm down, Mother Hen, I’ll be okay.”
It takes some major coaxing on MJ’s part, but Peter does eventually come around, his worried, fleeing glances finally stopping after a few more minutes of dashing through the snow. For a moment, he thinks that maybe the plan, the entire day, hasn’t been ruined at all. Maybe this could all still work. 
It’s all so enchanting, and they both seem to forget about the funny little allergies that came out of nowhere. They brace themselves as the sleigh nears the top of a small hill, and Mr. Matthews throws a playful warning over his shoulder. The couple laughs again, holding each other tight as the horses pick up speed on the way down, the wind whistling right past them, snowflakes covering their faces. The shimmering snow around them is nearly blinding, a stark contrast to the deep green of the surrounding trees. 
Peter hears Mr. Matthews’ “Giddy-up!” followed by Michelle’s joyful, exhilarated holler as they descend another small slope; his heart nearly bursts at the wide, uninhibited smile plastered on her face. 
When they come upon a clearing, and the horses slow to a gentle walk, Peter knows, right then and there, that it’s time. That this is right. Allergies be damned.
Oh, good God. 
“MJ,” he says without even giving it another thought, immediately turning to face her, his expression serious. 
He swallows as she waits for him to speak, eyes slightly wide. “What’s up?”
This was a lot easier said than done…
Clearing his throat, he briefly looks down at their joined hands. “MJ,” he says again.
“Yes?” Her head tilts a fraction as she glances from side to side, growing more and more confused by his strange behavior by the second. 
“I--” He sighs, finally keeping his gaze on hers, willing himself to just keep going. 
He wasn’t sure why he was so nervous. It wasn’t as if she would actually say, “no.” Again, this was something they’d talked about for months and months. This was something they both knew that the other wanted. 
He knew how she felt about him, and vice versa. 
So what was he so damn scared of? What was it that was making him feel like that terrified, hormonal teenage kid all over again?
When he looks up at her, though, and his eyes meet her red puffy ones, and he sees the way she’s looking at him (albeit, she’s still a little confused, but it’s a loving confused), he finds that maybe it’s not so scary. 
“MJ, I--I love you. A lot.”
She snorts. “And I love you. A lot.”
Her eyes widen as he gets down from his seat and on one knee, something that doesn’t seem to comfortable in the back of the sleigh. 
His gaze never leaves hers as he continues. “You’re my best friend in the whole world, and I wanna spend the rest of my life with you. And--”
He’s cut off with another big sneeze. 
“Sorry! Sorry!” She hastily says, waving him on to continue.
Peter chuckles. “It’s fine. I know this kind of thing didn’t really matter to you--how it happens or when or whatever… Like we could have just done this in our kitchen and we’d be happy but--” He laughs at himself, shaking his head. “But you, uh, kinda gave me free rein on this so--”
One of his hands goes to his pocket, smile never leaving his face as he grabs…
Nothing.
Nothing in the right pocket. 
Instantly, his brows pinch together in confusion, lips twisting into a frown as he feels around the pocket again. 
MJ seems to have been holding her breath this whole time, staring down at him with a quizzical quirk of her brow. 
Peter looks up at her, smiling sheepishly with a nervous chuckle. “Uh, hold on.”
He checks the left pocket. 
Nothing.
That little velvet box, the one with the very expensive engagement ring, had somehow fallen out of his coat.
It was there earlier! He was sure of it! He held it in the car just before they’d left! Where could it have gone?
“Everything good?” He hears MJ’s voice cut through his panicked, scrambling mind. 
“Uh… No, not really.” His voice might be a little too calm, or at least trying to be. “I was, uh, going to propose... But… I think I lost the ring?”
MJ only nods, lips pressed together in a thin line, though she doesn’t seem upset or disappointed. 
“I had it… in my pocket. In the car! And when we got in the sleigh, I’m… I’m sure of it. Oh, God…” He moves to sit next to her, burying his head in his hands. “I’m so sorry, MJ. I had this whole plan… and the ring… it was so pretty and cool… and I was gonna propose--”
“Let’s find it then,” MJ suggests calmly, putting an arm around him. 
“I’m so sorry, Em…”
“Don’t be sorry,” she sniffs. “It’s okay. We’ll find it!”
Peter wants to believe her, he really does, but he can’t help but feel like losing this ring was just a sign that his original plan was, well, the wrong one. 
He knows in the end that it doesn’t matter how they get engaged, that they don’t need a ring or a pretty proposal. 
But he can’t help, even knowing that his damn Parker luck might have reared it’s stupid head again, but feel that surprising defeat slam him right in the chest at something failing so spectacularly. That something could have gone so incredibly wrong. 
“Okay,” he mutters under his breath, leaning into her comforting touch. 
Mr. Matthews was an absolute saint, taking an alternate route back to the farm, ending the ride early so that they could look for the ring. He had his farm hands and employees practically turn the property inside out, looking through the fields, the barn, the very trail they were on. 
But they were all coming up empty. 
No one could have stolen it; Peter may have been a dumbass, but he would have known if he had been pickpocketed. 
Soon, early in the evening, the sun begins to fall, the sky darkening, forcing the diligent search to end. 
Honestly, though, of all the ways this could have possibly gone wrong, having to comb an entire 200 acre farm for a small rock on a piece of white gold was not something he’d drawn up in his millions of disaster scenarios. 
Peter waits in the car as Michelle continues talking to Mr. Matthews and the other workers. He can’t help but bang his head against the steering wheel, sighing to himself, muttering what an absolute idiot he was. 
And his hand are absolutely freezing from digging through all the snow.
He’s not sure he’s ever felt more dumb. 
Scratch that.
After he see that flash of velvet under his car seat, after he reaches down and finds that damn box with the ring safe inside under his car seat--
Then he’s never felt more dumb. 
Oh no. 
It had fallen out of his pocket. 
In the car. 
Under his car seat.
He stays in stunned silence as MJ gets back in the car, waving at the kind farmers before shutting her door. 
She immediately feels his tension, noticing his silence. “What?”
He wordlessly holds the box out to her before going back to his head on the steering wheel, only just resting it this time. 
“Oh…” Is her only response as she takes the box from him, opening it slowly. Her breath catches in her throat at the ring before her; instead of a crisp, white diamond, it looks like a smoky white sapphire, the gray color shining prettily in the moonlight. 
He still doesn’t speak though, his defeat too strong. 
“You found it!” She offers, though he gives nothing but a quiet “yep,” in response. 
“In the car?”
He nods. 
A beat passes. 
“You want me to go tell them you found it in those trees over there?”
Finally, that earns her the minuscule quirk of a smile. He nods again, not moving from the steering wheel. 
She leaves without another question, ring box in hand, only to return moments later, Peter paying no attention to the blast of cold coming into the car as she gets back in. 
He honestly, truly, cannot believe that this happened. 
And now, he’s just embarrassed. 
A heavy silence falls over the car once again, and Peter has to wrestle with the urge to just smack himself on the head. He wants to go home, but can’t find it in himself to even start the damn car. 
“Hey.”
He hears her voice, encouraging him to look up at her. He does, finding her holding the open ring box out to him, a slight tilt to her head, her lips pulled back in a warm, playful smirk. She sniffles, rubbing at her eyes with her free hand, before looking at him again. 
He’s almost confused, about to ask what she’s doing, but she doesn’t give him the chance. 
“Marry me?” She asks, holding the ring out further to him.
Truly, it’s a wonder to him how MJ can make him smile, make him laugh, make him happy, no matter how stressed or upset he is. 
“Of course.”
She offers him the box, and he takes it with another chuckle, taking the ring from inside and placing it gently on her finger. 
“Oh wait,” She pulls her hand back, snorting awkwardly. “I was supposed to put it on yours right?”
And the grin that stretches across his face is uncontrollable as he closes his eyes, shaking his head at himself. 
He really does love her. 
So damn much. 
With that, a ring on her finger and his spirits brightened once again, as the snow falls gently on the windows, the soft gusts of wind quietly howling outside the car, he pulls her into a warm, loving kiss. 
Lovely weather, indeed.

Cringing at my own videos
Training Videos Edition!
I got bored, needed motivation to start editing, went back to take a look at my older videos, and now I judge and cringe at them because that’s a given at this stage

Determined Horse Training, the title I came up with to be a little unique. I obviously couldn’t use something akin to Northena’s “Training Is Fun...Right?” and I wanted to give it a proper title knowing this would be a series of videos. I thought, and thought, and came up with the title after thinking of Undertale and how you are filled with determination in the game. “I am filled with determination to train these horses!” is what I thought and so the title of the series became that!

Brave Rebel- First off...the thumbnail. He was originally themed sort of after Nathan Drake from Uncharted, since I was into that series at the time. So the map was, you know, for the treasure hunting. But I didn’t want to stretch the map to fit and somehow decided that a brown background was a good idea?? // AH THE CLOTHES! THE NECK!! AHHH GATORADE OCEAN BLEHH. // Oh yeah I have a spelling error in the video “Let’s go defeat this traning day!”. // Been training with Sage from the start of the series. I wonder how many fails of their’s I’ve caught XD // Ah the rocks, the rocks that I caught Sage stumbling out of in a later training video. // Let’s not forget the double mouse thing going on that makes its appearance in many videos before I figured out to click off of the web pages (which had a music playlist going while training). // Omg there’s someone with the club name The Babies standing nearby when I turn in the final race. // Low-key still love this horse. He was my first true Soul Steed before we were designated to our starter. I don’t take him out much, the difference in horse animations from new to old is getting bigger and for dynamic photos, it just doesn’t look good ( @~@)
Cool Hero- The horse based off of Markiplier back when he had red hair. I also uploaded the video on his birthday! // The song choice....I mean it fits the theme, otherwise I’d pick a better song. // The mini references I’m still low-key proud of. // There’s quite the amount of gliding pons in this video and some horror texture pons. // I obviously had to max Markimoo at the observatory! // I also mimicked Mark’s outros where an image is boomeranging. It took a couple tries with my friend in the background, but it was worth it!
Violet Mystery- I hope when I introduced her as “The winner of the Jorvik Wild horse competition” I mean, she was the first coat to be picked. Back when it was only one horse coat is being made. They added the top two coats afterwards. // Oh yeah the character’s whole head would move to the side to keep eye contact with the camera. // It’s so weird to think that I caught a bit of footage of Swifty just before meeting her. Then again I remember NOT editing this training video until months later and uploaded it in September. Mind you that I got Cool Hero and Violet Mystery at the same time and Cool Hero’s video was out in June...oops. // Ironic that I have the pandoric cracks around when the horse is based off them. // People running up from the riding arena, ah the fog glitch that would happen when you left your horse in the riding area, ran all the way to the dino valley elevator, took it, and there was no fog in the valley! 
Megalove- Ah the first Undertale horse! I mean technically still the only Undertale themed horse I have, but I do have others planned. Haven’t gotten them yet and some plans changed. // The thumbnail....why did I make the stickers super tiny?? // Finally changed Elsa’s hairstyle to the ponytail I still wear to this day. We need updated ponytails with side bangs! I know we have the awesome braided ponytail in Mistfall, but there’s too much forehead! // Also the first training footage with the meet up....was 4 hours long. This was back when I recorded all stages of training and went through the footage in real time....I’m glad I changed strategy. // Can’t remember if crashing into a jump and the jump of the music timed at the same point was on purpose or if it was editing magic. // Oof cringing that I put comic sans as Sans “talking” in the video nnngghhhhh! // Ah my old club name Royal Ambassadors. I gave that club over to my side account Chiara Monsterhope for obvious reasons. // Annoying Dog in the credits, I still love that
Lucky Hero- I’m still proud that I came up with his nickname Vien short of Vienna where the famous riding school is. He, along with Brave Rebel, are my top horses. Please get an update eventually boys! // Finally Mac users had clear water! I was so happy over this you do not understand XD // Warriors by Imagine Dragons fits this horse, but quite a pain when I got Dark Warrior and didn’t want repeating songs. // Oh yeah early on, the Lipizzaners had a weird reflective tail glitch going on. // Vien was the first horse of mine that I got the day of release, bright and early in the morning! // I love how in the face of danger, an approaching bull dozer, I just stare at it. It wasn’t even a “oh no I should get out of the way” and instead was “huh that’s a thing”. // ALLY CHUM! I forgot that was a nickname to good friend!
Grey Ghost- OH BOY HERE WE GO!! Honestly my favorite training video. It was so much fun to edit with the music and the Halloween stickers hidden around the screen! Despite waking up at 5am to train for that aesthetic™. // Okay but that mushroom with the dark green sign did legit give me a spook. My body froze for a second and then I remembered that Slenderman doesn’t exist in Star Stable XD. // Ngl two of the stickers are hard to see cause of their surroundings. // GALLOPER THOMPSON MY MAN! Honestly I waited till midnight for him to be in Goldenleaf forest, just to see what would happen if you were racing and he caught you. By the gods of editing magic, the song was at a good point that fits perfectly with that scene. // For the scarecrow race I did actually take two different takes. I failed the first one and when I was editing I noticed that the two runs looked similar. So I put the first part of run 1 and cut before I failed and then put the remaining of the race with run 2. Looks almost seamless! 
Silent Promise- My favorite mare in my stable! She ends up being my AoT cosplay photo horse...until I get the actual themed horse XP. // Shadows were a little glitchy at first. // Why am I using Rud instead of Rude. Like I know why cause that’s how we got around the filter, but I didn’t need to put it like that in the video. It’s like back in my WolfQuest days where I learned to use Cuz as a short version of Cause and it bled into my text vocab. // The witch bombs...I wanted to make it dramatic, but in hindsight it’s just tasteless really. Also to note that the sound which was fine before uploading, got more rough once it was on YouTube
Small Potential- Real cringe theme here, Hetalia. It was fun while watching and all that, but since then I’ve seen some well done anime! Growth! // I love the nickname Finny. Not too sure if I want to keep this pony or not, sadly. // The Christmas remix song is because I had no other ideas XD
Brave Eagle- Oh this is another slight cringe theme. Even more cringe is the fact that I had to re-upload this training video since it got blocked all over the world! due to the Hamilton musical songs. So I....had to layer over the songs with other songs....it’s a whole mess and was a whole pain since I had to re-edit the sound effects. // I’m proud of the thumbnail though....that’s it
Winter Dust- Why did I make the “there’s a new app with these foals you can train” with the dramatic music? // I think because I had less levels to train, I tried filling that space with “cool looking shots”. // Ah, yes, my How To Get Over A Jump wikipedia step by step
Hollow Phantom- Had to bring a creepy vibe even though it was February. So he’s like a Halloween not Halloween horse. // Can you believe that I found the main song from a Haikyuu!! crack video? XD. // That zoom on the pony surrounded by magic shires was weird. We’re saying “SO TINY” but the clip was so short it was done and over without much sense. // Mmm that slight irritation that the music and clip didn’t match with the drop. // Tried to blend the music together with itself....it’s obvious. // Of course had to max the Galloper horse where I first met the phantom himself
North Guardian- I wanna talk about the thumbnail....that background...is literally just the horse’s hindquarters. I wanted something mossy since the horse is sort of based off of Pelagia from Shadow of the Colossus. I couldn’t find good enough backgrounds, so I used the horse itself. // Again that urge to want to make the clip and music match but ahhh
Lucky Lucky- Still wish I could name this horse Gold Luck or something. // I think one of the camera turns during a race was just to show off the rainbow nearby. // Ahh! back when we could say “demon” in the chat. // Hmm instead of letting the clip run, I could’ve just cut to Reed calling the askew fence “a disgrace”. // Text was onscreen for just too long. // Trying to do the riding arena jumps with a good camera angle. But at that point, the camera kept moving and wouldn’t hold still. I’m glad it’s better now. Maybe I’ll try it again with a future horse. // Huh, forgot to add sound effects when I hit something on the last race
Silent Surprise- Cause I had to let the people know that I bought the horse after watching the Belmont. // AH STILL THE NECK! // 2 minutes in and we haven’t even gotten to the actual training yet. // Another day, another SSO glitch, this time it’s shadow rocks. // Oop missed a sound effect
Hot Spot- THE MUSTACHE! // I forgot I put a filter over the video to give it an old timey look. I should do more like that if it’s in theme. // Of course I had to have The Wanted be playing with this song since it’s old west sounding. // What was the purpose of editing the scarecrow race like that? XD. // Random running clip. // Walking the whole bobcat race would be nice if I didn’t keep moving the camera
Pumpkin Candy- As much as I love my Halloween horses, this training video isn’t up to the standards that the first Halloween training video set up. It’s still got Halloween themed music, it’s still got stickers hidden in the video, but it doesn’t feel the same. // Having text be their default instead of making them the same agh. // The spooky filter I overlayed the clips with changes at times. Would be nice if it stayed consistent
Dragon Dawn- Hmm now that I have more songs to choose from (getting into another artist as much as I did with The Wanted), I would have another song playing to fit the horse better. Maybe Euphoria or Mikrokosmos. Oh well those will be for future horses eventually! // Didn’t drop with the music...disappointed
Thunder Spirit- The horse that trains through three months. You can easily tell by the Valentine race, the rainbows of March, and April Fools. // Man I really need to work on making the text not be so BIG. // The first rainbow race had lots of sound effects. After that one I was just like “yeah not doing that again”
Sun Chaser- Eh the slowed down music is not the best idea. But I think it was also an intro to a remix of the song. So it was only so long and I had a bit to say for the intro of the horse. // The second clip of the mysterious Icelandic cryptid you can’t see them once it zooms in....annoying. // Too much of a slow build up with another cryptid spotting. // Also using the same sound but slower after just using it...smooth (not). // You know the very last clip of the horse as he’s turning around on the beach? Yeah that’s the exact moment I did the intro for the horse XD
Dragon Warrior- The contrast between me and Sage’s bantering vs the sadder song (I found the song because of a Zeno AMV) well it’s kinda weird having laughs and then sad melody. // YouTube again ruins the quality of the mic as it sounds fuzzier than it was pre-uploaded. // Low-key recording voices was fun aside from having to make sure the clips matched the voices and clicking of the mouse. // I’m still annoyed I couldn’t find the perfect snoring sound effect when Sage’s Connemara is sleeping and starts gliding away
Smoke Mirror- A little too much of a pause between text in the intro. // I love how I’m wearing a Halloween shirt because no other shirt matched with the blue of the hat except for the dress it came with THAT I GOT RID OF! 
Obsidian Mystery- I love the thumbnail for her training video. It’s so spooky and cool! Favorite thumbnail of the entire series right there. // Ironic that with the three Halloween horses I’ve had. The two with the upbeat music are the ones where Galloper was present that year. The one where Galloper was missing that October, the music was softer, generic Halloween music. Not intentional, but it works. Though the first Halloween training video still gets the trick-or-treats because it has nostalgic music. // Some text isn’t easily visible
Dark Warrior- The horse I wish I could name Secret Warrior cause that would make SO MUCH MORE SENSE than Dark Warrior, but here we are. // Since Warriors by Imagine Dragons was in a previous training video, I had to search for another song to fit the horse. I literally went through those anime character theme song videos to find one! That was a terrible jump cut of the song

I’m reading the Witcher series for the first time and I keep getting plot bunnies for our tavern play...bear with me cause I’m not sure if this will actually work into anything or not but...

If we were to pick up where I left off with Geralt and Myah:
Plot bunny 1:
He takes the girl out riding far from the Keep and has her out for a few days rather than a few hours. He does agree to have someone go with them, and does actually tell Brom that he’ll be training her in the wilds rather than within the walls. Myah selects one of the battle maidens, Maeve, to go with them. She’s strong and a fighter in her own right, Geralt is reluctant at first but agrees. Someone of the Queen’s guard is supposed to be there, and since Norelia is home...he gives in to her wishes.
They return to Myah’s previous home and she shows him how she used to get around when her father wasn’t home, including fishing in a small creek less than a mile away and setting traps for rabbits. Because it’d already a shelter they stick close to the house but do spend a few nights in the wooded area close by.
He sets about training her in those woods, keeping an eye on her so she can’t get severely hurt but wants to see what she can do already. Balancing in wet rocks, she’s surprisingly agile. Though he’s also watching Maeve at this time, impressed by her speed and agility as well. Something about her gets his attention....
One evening after spear fishing leads to soaked clothes and a little bit of fun, the three of them are around a fire when Myah starts singing a song about him which prompts him to chuckle then grow sad. When Maeve asks why, he surprises himself by telling them where the song came from:
“Many years ago, I became indebted to a man from Arindel...long before it came to ruin, when the King was still but a distant thought...I saved him from the Grilacks...do you know what those are?”
“umm...adorably cute monsters that actually lure their prey in with their harmless appearance and pitiful cries. When the person falls for their trap, they swarm.”
Geralt nods, his brow furrowing. “I came across the man in the midst of a swarm and saved him from it. Grilacks fear fire more than anything else.”
“ good to know.”
“The man tried to repay me, I told him I had no interest in anything he could offer but still he tried. He had no money, bandits had seen to that. So I told him I would take that which he had, but did not yet know. Invoking a very old, seldom used law. And I wound up with Baradin from it...I called him Bard and in time he actually chose that as his profession. Most songs about me came from him.”
“Wow...”
M: Those songs are over 100 years old...
Geralt nods “Bard is celebrating his 95th birthday in a few moons...being around me and the elves have him an abnormally long life span...”
After a particularly rough training session where Maeve is having to soothe some injuries, though noticing she’s trying to hide tears, Geralt asks her why him to train her, she had people from the Keep already giving her that.
“My sister has a dragon...”
Geralt raises an eyebrow before she continues.
“Celeste will always have someone with her, but I’m not that blessed.” She holds her hand up and an ethereal butterfly rises from it, dancing for a moment before fading.
“Beautiful”
“But not useful...I could kill a man with what I know of herbs and elixirs but if one were to attack me, I couldn’t do much else than scream and beg him to stop.” Myah sighs, looking up at him.
“Brom and the Boar agreed to train me but they treat me more like a child that should be protected, not taught to protect herself...so I wanted someone else to teach me. You still seek to protect me, and I see that, but i slipped on the rocks earlier and all you did was laugh at my misfortune and tell me to do it again. Whenever I fall out of the trees you don’t make me stop, you make me do it again...”
“That’s why I wanted you out here...it’s easier to train for the unexpected if you’re in the element.”
“I can see how that would be true. You don’t coddle me”
“I never did with Norelia either. One of the reasons she and I have the relationship we do. I’ll never lie to her, but I don’t particularly spare her feelings either. Girls, especially ones your age, are far more powerful than people tend to give them credit for. You’ll fight tooth and claw to be seen as something other than a vessel or means to an end.” Myah scrunched up her face and he laughed.
“It’s weird hearing you laugh”
“Hmm”

Plot bunny 2: About a day’s ride from the Keep (after being gone for about a week) Geralt somehow gets knocked from his horse and bound to a post by a rather unsettled group of villagers, those who don’t agree with the rule of the Queen but aren’t really with the Resistance either. All they see is a “mutated beast” in the company of a child and another woman. Recognizing him as the White Wolf from one too many bard’s tales, they know Myah couldn’t possibly be his child and string him up, much to her and Maeve’s protests.
He takes the abuse from the people in stride, it’s not the first time and won’t be the last and he tries to tell the girls he will be fine, and to remain calm, the rabble can’t kill him. It’s not easy to kill a Witcher. In the middle of his whipping, Myah breaks from One man’s grip and lunges in front of him, catching the whip across her face which angers Geralt to no end but as her blood falls to the ground she suddenly conjures a shimmering arcane shield and demands the villagers allow them to leave. She’s really only able to conjure such strong magic briefly but it gives Maeve enough time to free his wrists before the shield fails and Myah collapses in his arms. She possesses magic stronger than even her mother had and they return to the castle, with her in front of Maeve and Geralt leading her mare behind him. He hands her to Brom and Dio who are waiting. Maeve tells them about the villagers, Brom takes the drained Myah into the Keep and before Geralt can react, the Boar punches him.
Geralt tries to assure them that he genuinely meant no harm to her and that she has powerful magic, beyond what has been seen of her in the training aspects, and she should be evaluated by the Queen’s warlock, Syrasta.
Plot bunny 3: 
Renshaw is with them because he is ALWAYS with Myah and has telepathically been telling Ulric where they are and exactly what they’re doing, to the point the dragon watches them sparing in the field near her previous home through the raven’s eyes. With Maeve there as well, Brom and the others are a little less anxious. While they train, he’s usually nearby, resting in a tree.
Once Myah gets the steps and coordination down to a rhythm and can better anticipate attacks, Geralt suggests she try to take both him and Maeve, though that doesn’t go as well as he had hoped. She can defend but misses chances that would kill her in a real fight.  
Plot bunny 4:
Maeve is a battle maiden for the Queen and one of the only ones that Geralt has not had his way with, either currently or in the few times he’s seen Norelia since she first became a conqueror. She is also, unbeknownst to even Geralt, a child of surprise after an incident some 20 years before involving a pregnant bar wench and some ruffians that tried to kill her and ended up knocking into Geralt prompting him to “deal’ with them. He was already in a tense spot at the time, job gone wrong, among other things. When he lashes back at the men he ends up killing the ones that were bothering the lady as well. With nothing else to offer, she gives him her word that the child will be his. He leaves without even acknowledging the debt, though ends up feeling odd for some time, eventually forgetting about it altogether.
Before returning to the Keep with the weakened child, Maeve insists that they stop so she can clean up his wounds. They’re starting to heal already but there’s still possibility for infection. As she’s mixing a salve, she trails her fingers over his bare skin, remarking on the scars that tell quite a story on his skin. In his amusement he tells her about a few of them.
“Everyone asks...they hear tales from bards about this and that.”
“And bards tales are flowery”
“Exactly, they leave out the politics of a situation for the flair and fanciful depictions of monster slaying”
She tells him she’s been with thr Queen’s company for some time, and that she remembers when he returned Norelia to the camp the first time.
“Everything I heard about you, I never expected to see that White Wolf so careful and...”
“Talkative”
“Well...they say you’re a man of very little words, who lets his swords speak for him. Give him your coin and he’ll slay your beast, whatever it is.”
“It’s never “whatever it is.” I do have things I won’t kill”
“For instance?”
“I’m not in the business of killing children, even possessed ones, and some maurading beasts are starving. I make other arrangements”
“What does that mean?”
Geralt stops for a moment and stares at the fire before looking back up at her suddenly. “Why am I so inclined to tell you anything? I get around you and I say more about my life than I do even to her” He motions to Myah asleep under her cloak. “Who are you?”
She tells him of how the she came into the Queen’s service and where she was from originally and the memory of the bar wench comes back. Though he made no formal request, the draw to be close to Maeve is strong and it bothers him a bit.

Valerie Harper Dies at 80: Remembering 10 of Her Best Rhoda Quotes – Parade
Valerie Harper, the comedienne who entertained audiences on The Mary Tyler Moore Show and its spinoff, Rhoda, died today at age 80.
Her husband, producer/actor Tony Cacciotti, confirmed her death Friday to ABC and The New York Times.
Harper continued to be an inspiration to her fans, six years after she was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer and told she had three months to live. The actress kept an incredible attitude and remained positive about her diagnosis until the very end.
“Every five minutes, every hour, every day, every year that you waste worrying about your cancer — you have forfeited time that you could have been alive having fun,” she told Closer Weekly in 2015.
As we remember the comedic genius of Valerie Harper, we’re looking back at some of her best moments on The Mary Tyler Moore Show and its spinoff, Rhoda. These quotes remind us why the tough, straight-talking Rhoda Morgenstern will always be one of the funniest characters on TV.

3 Reasons Why
Gazing idly up at the white speckled ceiling above, the lone orange coated pegasus had always aspired for a better life. Focusing on the negative impacts in her life, the days had seemed to blend together in a regretful blur. Shifting in irritation, the once shared king sized bed draped in grey sheets was now nothing more then empty space. Scanning the sudden light desperately seeking to flicker inside from her curtained window, Plush Ramen had sat up in a groan. Peaking out the one story window in curiosity of the morning days events, the squinting mare had instantly regretted it. Rubbing her once piercing sapphire blue orbs as their duller discoloration became proof of brighter days, she sighed.
Making her way to the bathroom and not daring to flick on the lights, the shower had been turned on in mere reflex. Getting the temperature to a near boiling degree, Plush stepped inside with a soothing hum. “This feels nice..” Closing her eyes as the heated water assaulted her fur in a blissful fashion, a hoof had reached out to grab her loofah from its hook just outside the showers edge. Lathering the white colored scrubber before running its scratchy surface over her toned arms, the smell of mint and rosemary had filled the misty air in an almost calming aroma. Wincing at the feel of her loofah over her scarred collarbone, Plush Ramen had begun to cry. Leaning back against the glass doors in an emotionally broken state, memories she had once shoved from her core had come crashing back in waves.
{Flashback}
Starting off her day just as any other, Plush Ramen had bolted out of bed in a hustle. Making her way through the hallway and knocking on one room in particular, she opened it with a vengeful smile. “its time to get up for school. Come on! Up up up!” Speaking to two fully covered bodies wanting nothing to do with their morning routine, the motherly mare had only chuckled further. “I know you’re both awake. Don’t make me bring out the monster under your beds!”
Popping her head out of the covers with a whine, a young dark blue coated bat filly had ran a hoof over her eyes in exhaustion for the day ahead. “Mom, you and I both know there is no monster under the bed. Geez. Scientific facts.” Slipping out of her bed, a comb had been grabbed in preparation for her equally black messy mane. Brushing through its long strands, little miss Nova wasn’t the one her mother had to worry about.
In the other bed, a grumbling burnt orange pegasus born colt had been forcing himself to stay within. “Nnnope.” Gripping the covers and bundling himself up as a burrito, little Aries was a tough one when he wanted to be.
Nonetheless, Plush had simply shook her head. Walking to the door, her head had turned around with a well deserved smile. She was lucky to have everything she ever truly wanted. “First one to the kitchen gets eggs for breakfast.” Stepping out of the room and hearing an array of hooves suddenly battling for the entry way of their door, the mother smiled in satisfaction. “Works every time. They are my number one reason to live.”
{Flashback over}
That had been the last time she saw her children. Blinking through the now luke warm water as it spit down around her, the depressed mare had turned the water off with a weakened hoof. Feeling back to the scar her ex husband left on her the first time she royally messed up, she sighed. He had given her far too many chances, and each time, she’d fuck up. Stepping out of the shower and grabbing her towel from its hanger, drying off was far more of a chore these days then it should have been. Keeping it wrapped around her waist and looking into the darkened room mirror, she whispered to herself in a bitter hatred. “Reason number 2 why I’m still alive. You.”
“Plush? Are you home?” Stepping into her lovers home with a hint of concern showing in her normally raspier voice. Not hearing an immediate response, the smell of mist penetrated her nostrils with a small relieved sigh. Hanging around Plush Ramen for quite a few pain staking months, the mare entering the hallway was by far more then just some friend. Like most that entered her friends life, she was impacted by the darker side of Plush. While knowing most wouldn’t understand, the tall mare continued to push forward. While she started out hating the pegasus for what she did to her, they were simply meant to be. From the few light patches of the home, holes could be seen through the intruders legs and cloth like wings, the half changeling knew better then to judge. Finally making her way to the bathroom, she opened the door without another word.
Before she could make sense of what was happening, Plush had whipped around to see a figure standing before her with baffled bright glowing orange eyes. “Wh-at the?!” Swiftly trying to kick whoever it was out and failing horribly, her towel had come undone. Slipping on the excess piece and flailing backwards, the floors cold surface had been but inches away when something brought her to her hooves.
“You’re a mess as always Plush Ramen.” Levitating the orange mare back on her hooves and saving her from crashing back onto the tile floor, her friend had switched on the overhead light, instantly brightening up the once spooky room. “What in Equestria were you doing with the lights off?”
“O-range Glow? What are you even doing here? And because I like it dark.” Hanging up her towel before moving towards the doorway, the mare awaited an answer.
“If I don’t visit you, I’ll never see you.” Simply offering a small smile, Orange Glow’s eyes had glanced down her friends body for some time. Smelling of tea and happy thoughts, the halfling had closed the distance. Bringing the troubled pegasus in for a kiss, she cared not for her still dampened form. Raising a holed hoof to Plush’s face for stability, her kiss had only deepened at the mares lack of resistance. Finally breaking free, she chuckled lightly. “I missed you.”
Blushing lightly as the creature pulled away, Plush nuzzled her cheek with a calmer expression. “You are my third reason..” She whispered to herself. Orange Glow had always been a very caring and fun individual. Were they perfect? No. But its what held them together. Two broken mares keeping eachother alive.
“Hm?” Orange asked, her bright eyes focusing on what Plush had said with a hint of confusion knocking at her mental door.
“its nothing. Lets go.” Moving the mare aside, she was intent on blowing past the kiss scene when Orange Glows next moves caught her by surprise. Pushed into the wall of the hallway with nothing more than a grin from her friend, Plush blinked in confusion. “Did I miss something?”
“You did Plushie.” Leaning into her before giving off a slow flick of her tongue into the mares ear, her whispering voice was welcoming relief. “Your birthday. Come now, I believe I owe you a present.” Shivering lightly at her display, Plush questioned how sane she truly was on this day. “Orange its just a stupid day. I don’t want anyth-“
Cut off by the sudden pressure of lips smashing against her own, hooves had went down before picking the toned mare up in her arms. Keeping the kiss going as long as possible to shut the stressed pegasus up, Orange Glow had thrown her on the bed with a simple grin. “You’re going to shut up dammit. This is my day too. You were brought into this world to end up with me. Let me enjoy it.” Crawling over the stunned mare as her lips found their way up her stomach, the halfling had continued with a brave streak passing through. Reaching Plush Ramen’s lips before making her way to her very soft and exposed neck, fangs scraped against her fur in curiosity, her hooves roaming as she bit down for a night to come.
Laying still as her body temperature only rose in the moments to come, Plush had found herself in awe. Adoring the once shy lover of hers for branching out, she couldn’t help but wince at the sudden bite into her skin. Leaning into it with a softened moan to her wandering hooves, she could only hope the night would last forever. “..I love you..”
“Retracting herself from the orange mares neck and kissing it softly, the halfling could only hum in delight. “I love you too. Now hush.” Smirking as her lips traveled further, each section teased was a memorable adventure. “Just you wait, the day has just begun.”

Summary: It’s the end of the spooky season and the heroes and villains met up.
A/N: It’s J.J and Google’s birthdays.
And with that is the close of another Egotober. I’m glad you all could be here with me for this. I’ll be here on the third for another birthday post and then on Friday for my regular uploads. Have fun and stay safe out there everyone.

Another year passed, another year come and gone, and it was the heroes and the villains’ meet-up, one of their only truce days.
Several people weren’t there that normally came every year. Logan was understandably not in attendance and Joan and Virgil had stayed at the apartment with him as they watched The Nightmare Before Christmas and the Addams Family movies. Oliver had stayed at the base to avoid Google, a good idea since Google only came to see if Oliver was there. Chase had stayed with Oliver to avoid seeing Dark’s face. And Nate was out of town with Mare on a tour.
Still, the tenuous truce remained.
The Host had pulled Illinois and Bim aside briefly before they entered the building that the meet-up was being held at.
There was an important matter that the Host wanted to discuss and Dark was reassured everything was fine before he let them hang back and enter the festivities shortly after.
But everything was not fine.
“This is completely absurd,” Bim told him. “How are you sure this is even going to work?”
“The Host is only certain that without aid, he and the others will fail,” the Host admitted.
“So what are we supposed to do?” Illinois asked. “You’re a shit liar, how are you gonna get past Dark?”
“No,” the Host corrected. “The Host needs Illinois to lie to the Entity. Because he is the only one who could get away with.”
Illinois groaned, rolling his eyes,”Fine, I’ll think of something but if he gets pissed I’m blaming your cryptic ass.”
“The Host is not opposed to that, so long as things are taken care of,” the Host smiled. “Now, the Host and his brothers should join the others. Before the Entity gets concerned and comes looking for them.”
“But I have questions,” Bim reminded.
“Not while prying eyes can find, the three of them talk tomorrow,” the Host promised.
Bim protested a bit but the Host helped the three of them slipped back into the group. They came into the room while Dark and King were in the middle of an argument.
“We can’t get a cat, Kay,” King snapped at Dark. Dark rolled his eyes. “We can’t get a dog, Kay. It’s not safe. It’ll die.”
Dark pinched the bridge of his nose, “Kaylor.”
“And then what do you do the instant I leave?” King spat. “You get a fucking cat! And name it after yourself!”
“Wil brought him into the house and named him, and the thing was half-dead,” Dark defended. “You would have been angrier if I had allowed it to die.”
Wilford chuckled from where he was sitting next to Dark, “You know you love ol’ Damsy, Dark. The little scamp always tries to sleep in our bed.”
“Don’t undermine me in front of everyone,” Dark glared at Wil.
The madman just smiled at Dark, loudly scooting his chair closer. “Let’s just enjoy the party. Have a couple drinks with me.”
“I’m not done complaining at him,” King pointed at Dark.
Wilford was suddenly standing next to King, slinging an arm around his neck. “Come on my boy, you like bourbon right?”
“Not really,” King told him, glancing at Abe. “I wasn’t old enough to drink when I left.”
“Ahh, I know you and Illy stole some of Dark’s wine on multiple occasions,” Wil smiled.
“What was that?” Dark demanded.
“Nothing,” Illinois told him. “I’m getting a drink.”
Google had been watching the argument from a distance, and he noticed that Bing was walking up to him.
“Hey, Googs,” Bing greeted when he stopped next to the other android. “We need to talk.”
“I have nothing to discuss with you,” Google grumbled angrily at him.
“If we don’t do something about Green he’s going to kill Ollie,” Bing reminded sharply.
“Green is restricted from destroying Oliver’s central drive,” Google dismissed. “Oliver will be fine, even if I have to rebuild the rest of him from scratch.”
Bing glared at Google, “Either you do something, dude, or I will.”
“Is that so?” Google’s tone was suddenly far more serious. “Will you?”
Bing looked at the other android right in the optic cameras that served as his eyes. “Yeah, I will. He can’t keep terrorizing Ollie.”
“You won’t kill him, you’ve deviated so far from your objective that you aren’t even capable of it,” Google dared.
“Don’t need to kill him, but I will make him stop,” Bing warned.
Google stared blankly at him, before looking away, “I am leaving, I have work to do.”
Bing watched him go. Google left without a goodbye to anyone, not even to Dark. Bing left to go back to the base.
As the part continued, J.J noticed that Dark seemed to be watching the crowd. He wasn’t mingling like he tended to do, his usual attempts to get information about their civilian identities.
This year he was minding his own business, except when an increasingly drunk Wil was trying to climb into Dark’s arms.
“Looking for something?” J.J asked.
“Illinois’s boyfriend,” Dark said out loud, moving his hands to sign as he spoke.
J.J felt a bit of apprehension, “How do you know he has a boyfriend?”
Dark chuckled, “I’ve known Illinois for years. I know what the ‘Plus One tax’ looks like on my invoices. That and he labeled some of his expenses as “Cariño” and Illinois would never put the wrong gender to mislead me.”
“Plus One tax?” J.J spelled the word out like Dark had.
“When Illinois has someone who travels with him and he’s keen on them,” Dark’s signing got a little less precise with his words, “they become his travel partners and unlike another person in his travel team, the expenses for that person is sometimes double what it normally is. Or triple if Illinois is particularly taken. It’s fairly adorable and it’s his money so he can spend it how wants, but I always like to attach a face to the expenses.”
“Why are you looking for him here?” J.J asked.
Dark’s answer was a smile, “That’s the only thing I know about him. I have my suspicions, but so far I’ve only cleared Crank.”
“You are tracking him,” J.J began to ask, “how do you not know?”
“Illinois isn’t the only one who loves a good mystery,” Dark was looking at Illinois who was trying to tend to an increasingly drunk Bim who was overenthusiastic about being at the party. “When Illinois is ready, he’ll tell me.”
J.J did smile at that. The evening was relatively fun, if more than a bit tense. Dark sent Bim and Wil through a portal, taking Illinois with him and ignoring when Illinois left the Manor soon after to go and visit his boyfriend.
The party slowly began to disperse after that, the atmosphere less tense after Dark and Bim left, in the hope that less year the meet-up would be significantly less strained.

Egotober Day 28: Phantoms of the Old World

Prompt: Fear
Summary: In an undisclosed location there is a vault where a powerful group keeps “troublesome” relics. Nate and Mare have to go in, and play a little game of pretend. If they play their cards right, Nate gets to walk back out with Mare. If they don’t, they’re both in quite a bit of trouble. But there is more to fear than hooded figures and hard-to-find places. Things that time is trying to bury and forget . . . the phantoms of the old world.

They had been in the car for a long time, and normally Nate wouldn’t have minded. If this was an ordinary car trip he was forced to sit passenger on, he would have been on his phone, or writing another song or cover.
But this was no ordinary car trip. He was out in the middle of what he thought was the desert, interrupted from his tour, but promised he’d meet up with them at the next stop, with a black bag over his head to block out the possibility of him seeing where he was going. The only positive was that he was allowed music to keep him and Mare from going insane.
And that was part of the problem, Mare was with him. Normally he would have let Mare slip away, pretend they didn’t know each other and Nate would sit and be fine.
However Nate and Mare had to play of game of pretend. They had to pretend that Nate was completely in control of Mare. That Mare couldn’t and didn’t get away from him. Pretend that there wasn’t a slowly but surely founded bond of trust between the two of them.
Around Nate’s neck was a necklace with a fake metal key dangling around it. In the head was a large amethyst that seemed to faintly glow. Mare was inside the necklace, hiding and trying not to look like he could get out if he casually stretched.
They had to sell this perfectly. So far Mare had already passed a couple tests before Nate had gotten into the car, and things seemed to be going alright.
But now it was dark and the car’s heater was almost silently going in the background. All Nate could do was hope and pray that Mare didn’t go completely crazy in boredom. He didn’t want Mare taken away, Nate liked Mare. The demon wasn’t half as bad as Anti and nowhere near as devious as Dark.
But to this group a demon was a demon, and they would believe Nate had been taken over. So they couldn’t afford to mess this up.
Mercifully the car stopped and the bag came off.
Nate blinked in disorientation, taking his ear buds out. “We here?”
“Yeah,” the driver got out as the guy next to Nate opened the car door.
“This gonna take long? I’ve got a tour to get back to,” Nate got out, putting his phone in his pocket and taking out his head phones.
“Shouldn’t take more than a half-an-hour,” the driver promised.
There was what looked like a decommissioned aircraft hangar surrounded by a gated fence, runes and protection seals all over the place. It wasn’t meant to keep humans out, that’s what the desert was for, it was to keep out other dangerous creatures.
Nate was greeted by five people in robes, “Ahh, Young Nathan, we hoped you’d join us properly. Make sure you leave that thing in the vault and get changed. We have a lot to talk about.”
“I still have a concert to get back to and I’m not done using his aura,” Nate pretended to be a lot colder towards Mare than he ever had been, but he still took off the necklace. Mare tried to be as still as possible as he was placed inside an ornate but non-magical box.
He could still hear the conversation as he was slowly taken away.
“And I’m not wearing those robes, you all look like cultists,” Nate refused.
“We’re not cultists,” the leader insisted, as they got farther away and Mare fought the urge to rush to Nate’s side. Nate wasn’t extremely magically inclined like Dark’s host or Marvin. He had a nice voice and was sensitive to magic, but otherwise defenseless against those who wanted to harm him.
But Mare had to trust Nate, that he knew these people, that they only wanted to harm Mare if he showed he couldn’t be contained.
A gnawing unease that felt worse when he was taken into a room and could feel other twisted, tormented souls inside the room. Locked and sealed inside of various objects. Because Mare wasn’t locked inside the necklace, he could sense around the room. There was a sealed book holding a demon that wouldn’t stop screaming. A music box with a banshee locked inside. A mask. A couple more necklaces each with a demon inside the centerpiece gemstone. A statue with a weeping demon.
But at the other side of the room, locked inside of a glass case, tethered onto place with chains and papers written with all kinds of rooms was a black cane, the pommel head of the cane was a three talon claws hand holding a clear gem.
And the demon inside that cane . . . it was staring at him.
Mare didn’t want to be in here, he could feel the screams of other demons and spirits trapped in this room. It was like if you stuck a human and people locked that person into a room with the sick and dying, and then closed the door behind them.
“Well,” a voice rumbled out and the other demons immediately fell silent. “That’s not fair.”
The other demons seemed to echo the one in the cane, with almost a mad fervor.
“Not fair . . .”
“Not fair . . .”
“Not fair . . .”
“Not fair . . .”
“Not fair . . .”
“Enough!” The demon called out and they immediately fell silent. “You have a name?”
“Oh, I don’t trust you,” Mare defended.
Mare could almost hear the smile when the demon asked, “So you’re not an idiot? How about this: you help get me out, and I don’t tell them you’re not under your host’s thumb?”
Mare felt a tight coil in his soul, “I’ll see what I can do.”
“The longer I wait little parrot, the more impatient I get,” the demon warned.
“Okay, okay,” Mare allowed. “I got it.”
Then the door opened and Mare went quiet. Mare didn’t think any real time had passed, but that might have been the droning of tortured souls warping his perception of time. His box was picked up and removed and in a minute or two the box was opened and Mare felt relief wash over him as Nate put the necklace back on.
“I’ll definitely keep an eye on the situation,” Nate promised the leader. “Figure out of it’s really them.”
“I’d like to know how bad the situation is,” they told Nate. “Make sure you tell us if the demon you have becomes unmanageable.”
“Of course,” Nate agreed, “safety first.”
Mare did his best to stay quiet and still, Nate had his head covered, but this time it was just Nate and the driver.
When the driver was concentrating on the road, Mare clung to Nate’s neck.
“Hey, buddy, calm down,” Nate whispered as quietly as he could.
Mare felt like a coiled spring, waiting for everything to fall through. But to Mare’s relief they rendezvoused back with the tour group and Mare flew out of the necklace the instant the van started driving away.
“Hey, come on, you don’t have to go back for a while,” Nate promised, everything’s okay.”
“They’ve got an evil bastard in there,” Mare warned. “He just threatened to expose us.”
“Okay, you tell me and I tell you,” Nate told him.
“We were in assfuck north Arizona,” Mare reported.
“Alright,” Nate nodded. “They don’t suspect anything right now, so we’ve got sometime. Which demon was it?”
“He was in a cane, that fucker had the whole cell under his thumb,” Mare warned.
“Shit, okay,” Nate swore, his hand forming a claw. “Did the top have a claw and a marble in the claw.”
“Yes.”
“Dammit!” Nate yelled. “M’Kay, we can’t free him, that fucker needs to stay in his cage. We’ll think of something. We’ll do the tour and think of something.”
“Do I have to go back in the necklace?” Mare asked with a little bit of trepidation.
“No, there’s some hot wings in the kitchen unit,” Nate offered. “Have fun, buddy.”
“Sweet,” Mare let out his first smile he’d given Nate since he told Mare about the necklace trick.
“Make sure you save some for everyone else,” Nate told him, smiling back at Mare.
“Maybe if I feel like it,” Mare scoffed, still smiling.
The demon slipped through the door, Nate’s smile lingered a bit as he looked at the door. Then Nate turned back to the camera he had taken from the Sides, currently it was tied down with rope and spell tape. “Okay, now back to work.”
